I think I want to cry 😢

Apr 05, 2016 6:38 PM

Started 4 weeks of PT on my left stiff, arthritic hip today. Found out I'm also suffering from extensively drawn-tight muscles, tendons, & ligaments (from favoring it 6 mos), along with a bursitis flare. Yipee!! I'm to do my 3 stretching exercises twice a day, daily, seeing them 2x a week. I just finished the wall-lean stretch and now I hurt so bad I'm on the heating pad. Not sure I'm going to make it to the other 2 exercises tonight. Thanks to the Barrett's esophagus I can't take any Aleve or Ibuprofen. I hope I didn't do the leaning stretch wrong, but my whole leg is tingling. 😭

I'm so.sorry flappys. PT can be a blessing and a curse. If your hurting now I'd say skio the other excerses tonight and try tomorrow to get them in.rest well

Thank you. I used the heat and got real still, and it's eased off some. If I can walk to the bedroom I'll use the voltaren and hopefully sleep. But I haven't slept well since Saturdays flare. I now know it's partially the bursitis. I hope you rest well too. Hugs!! 🙂💕🙏🌼

I think I've asked before the voltaren is a gel used for muscle pain right? Can I just ask for a prescription for it? Does it really work ?

Apr 05, 2016 9:08 PM

It works for me but doesn't last long enough. I use to use aspercreme and they made me come off of it. Then I had a special rx creme, but when we changed insurance they wouldn't cover it anymore (Dermatran). Ask your doc for it. It certainly can't hurt to try. Being unable to take rx pain meds and my pain increasing, I'm willing to start some alternatives for pain relief, starting with my diet. Carbs are not my friend!!! Lol. Hugs & prayers for a good night for all! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Sounds good..I'm kind of the same way. I can't take any of the nsaids due to my gastric bypass and since Dr don't want to give loratab I'm stuck in a pain Hole. I've been using an over the counter creme and it works on it just burns really bad when I apply it. So I have to be in extreme pain to do it. Since it causes me more pain just to apply it.

I totally understand that. Biofreeze is ok but so cold.

Flappys,

that's ok tomorrow is another day. You gave it a try 😊
If it continues maybe the exercise needs to be adjusted.

But in the meantime you are still awesome Flappys 🎈
Beets.

I'm sorry you're feeling so sick Flappys! I hope it eases up some!

You need to talk with your PT that it is to much. If you are hurting that bad it is waaaayyyy to much. When I was in PT as soon as I told her I hurt she cut it back and said if it was causing me that much pain it wasn't doing any good.

Hope you find the happy middle and it starts helping you feel better.

Sometimes voltaren works for me and others it doesn't. For the times it doesn't i generally use A535 or icy hot.

Flappsy.. Was the physical therapist not there watching you to make sure that you're doing it correctly?? I'm praying for you and I hope that you are able to get some relief. Sending you gentle {{{Hugs}}} and you know that you're always in my prayers.💕🙏🏻🌻

Flappy, sorry to hear things have been tough for you. How are you feeling today? You are in my prayers. 🙏🏽

Apr 06, 2016 8:22 PM

Today was better. I did the exercises but didn't push to the max, and I'm not hurting near as bad as yesterday. But I'm still very stiff in the joint & inner thigh. I am tell the muscles are tight from the "favoring". I don't go back to PT until Friday, so maybe by then I'll be loosened up some. I've never heard of the A535, but Icy hot burns!

Hi flappyslady, I'm so sorry for your pain. I have a thought, I wonder if it would help to use the heat before your stretches to warm up those tendons first. Then heat again after. Maybe ease into them just a little slower until you make your full stretch. Remember, it took months for them to draw up. It's not going to get better overnight. Lot's of gentle hugs to you dear.

Apr 07, 2016 8:15 AM

Sleepingbeauty, thanks for the suggestion. I've done the before heat, as they instructed. I think I'll try the after heat and see if it helps. It's definitely going to take time. They didn't instruct me to do both legs, but I am because I don't need the other leg s suffering from non use. Thank you! Hugs & prayers you have a blessed day! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Yes, yes use heat to loosen up those muscles, tendons and ligaments. That is the main reason I love PT in a heated pool. It made a world of difference for me after shoulder surgery.

Apr 07, 2016 7:28 PM

I wish I had a heated pool. That or a hot tub.

I wish my doc would send me back to PT. I started feeling a little more like myself when I went. It was originally for Migraine and the neurologist sent me. I quit seeing her when she said my migraines are "depression induced" and she felt I didn't have fibromyalgia or lupus or Reynaud's

Apr 10, 2016 10:06 PM

PT was kinda hard for me, I'd be knocked out for two days each after the first several appointments (once per week) but the pain got more bearable. I hope your exercises get easier with time, and will lower your passion.

Apr 11, 2016 1:34 AM

Flappsy, I'm glad to hear that the pain is not quite as bad and sure do commend you on continuing to do your exercises at home (on both legs no less). I am sorry that you're still hurting as badly as you are though. I really think that the heat afterwards will keep those tendons loose and more flexible. Sending you much love, gentle {{{Hugs}}} and prayers that you continue on the road to feeling better. 💕🙏🏻🌻😊
