I think I've made my back angry again.

Apr 05, 2015 1:32 PM

Hi all,
So got through the majority of service just fine, but when I went to go kneel for communion, that really set my back off. Can't get comfortable in any position that I try and don't want to go to urgent care or the ER tonight. Next ortho appointment isn't until the 24th. Any suggestions/ideas?

Have you tried pelvic tilts, stretching your back from lying on the floor with knees up and pulling one at a time to your chest and or rolling legs back over your head like half a back roll? You could also try lying on the floor with your legs straight up on the wall if you can picture that. The other thing you could try is an exercise roller if you have access to none. Lying on it both length wise as well as rolling it horizontally under you. Epsom salt baths might help too and of course as has been mentioned ice. After a couple days ice and heat alternated is worth a try as well. I don't know if you have been on anti inflammatories or muscle relaxers this might be a good time to use them. I don't usually recomend that stuff but they do have their place and time and sounds like this might qualify.

Lymie, thanks for the help. Stretching just makes it 10 times worse this morning. Will try ice when I get home. Have 1 flexaril left but can't take it right now. Headed out to the PCP office in a little bit for a dressing change(I think) and for them to look at this other spot that just popped up on my butt. Can't take anti-inflammatories at this point cause I also have issues with my blood clotting apparently as per my PCP.

Amanda will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully he will give you something stronger that will clear it up down side probably have to take it for several months to clear it up out of blood .

Hey Amanda, try waiting until you are up for a while before you do some stretching so that it gets your blood flowing and muscles warmed up a bit. Take your flexoril and then do GENTLE stretching. Always try to remember that when you are feeling better pretty good, not to overdo things. I know I forget sometimes and seem to feel better and then I get crazy and want to do everything I love THAT very day. Its never a pretty result... LOL!!! I hope you feel better and I also apologize for not being on, I have been having technical problems between all my devices and then I was totally unable to get into the app at all. I am here, I am trying to get in just so I can read the posts and see how my pain community family is doing and know I'm thinking of you

Thanks Alwayz, down for the count right. Tried to do too much in one day, now I'm paying for it.

Amanda, I try stretching under my warm shower, after I've eaten and moved about. It seems to help more that way, especially when I wake up stiff. Get some rest. 🙏🌼

I'm new here and obviously missing information. What do you have dressings for? New spot developing? Sounds like there might be a big piece I'm missing. The way I was understanding it you threw just your back out at church but I'm thinking now you have other things going on as well that complicate things. Is the back problem a common part of your pain issues, so not completely new? What part of your back and do you know the root cause? How are you doing now?

Sorry Lymie, I am MRSA positive as well so that's what I meant by spots coming up. I was in a car accident on 12/1/2014 So yes the back pain is the big part of the pain issue. 1 herniation at L5/S1 that we can see at this point. I'm doing okay at this point, still in a fair amount of discomfort but it's manageable,
