I have lost half my hair due to hypothyroidism. I cried about it, I was losing part of me. I would have brush fulls that always set me off. I had thick hair that a scruncie pony tail holder could only go around twice and it was tough to get the 2nd time around. Now I can go 5 times around. I know when I was getting it cut a good hairdresser knows tricks and cuts to make it look fuller. Also you might try using shampoo with natural ingredients. I stopped blow drying and using hot iron appliances to try and help stop the damage. I also don't brush my hair wet or over brush it. I hope you find something to help I know what you are going through.
Typically you can find a variety of choices in a health food section of a store. Just like finding natural foods you have to read ingredients. Natural shampoos won't get sudsy. If you want to make your own do an Internet search for homemade shampoo there are a lot of recipes. There is a lady online who swears by baking soda as shampoo and vinegar as conditioner I haven't tried it. I personally like wen when I can afford it but it isn't for everyone.
Sorry you're losing your hair. I have lupus and am on methotrexate. I've resided that if it happens to me since I already have very thin hair to have fun with wigs. Sending you a gentle hug. I know it's insult to injury.
Wigs can be fun. There is a store in a mall near me that has lots of wigs and a lot of them are incredibly beautiful and real looking, then there are the pink and blue ones. I get that it's hard and it's a big blow. I do however think it would be fun to get a few wigs and keep people guessing. Like maybe one week the hair is a pink bob and next week shoulder length light brown. Screw with peoples minds that way. I would do it and try to get some giggles out of a bad situation. There was a girl in my high school way back when who shaved her head for fun. She still prefers it super short and the second it'sin her eyes she shaves it all off again. And it looks good. I know it's not the same, but think of the about of money you'll save on hair products. I am in canada and buy my hair and skin products from rocky mountain soap company online. Not sure where they ship to but they own the 'toxin free' movement here in Alberta. And there are scented and unscented products.
TaeTae, I hope you will be able to find your way with or without your hair. Gotobef you are fun and funny. Thank you for your advice :) I recently lost most of my eyebrows, this was an odd one. I am lucky to have my eyelashes ;) this loss may be due to a recent couple rounds of Lupron :( I have hypothyroidism, fibro, chronic pain, migraines. At times even when my hair will go thin or patchie, I still would find my hair too heavy causing pain. So I now have short hair sometimes very short hair, thinned out, because I can't deal with added pain. I have not worn a wig, but my daughter is a teen interested in wearing them. She has one she enjoys. We are interested in purchasing another one so we are looking around for her, there are lots. My head and neck get cold so I prefer touques, scarves, head / neck wrap, hats, hoods, whatever I can handle. I really don't care anymore what people think. I have not dyed my hair for about 4 years. I am greying. I wash and go. Sometimes use hair products but minimally. If needed I just add a little colour I do around my eyes, blush and a lipstick to add a little life to my dull look. I now try to get a good cut, but that gets expensive because it needs to be done often, so that doesn't happen too often. I am going to be ok. TaeTae I wish you well finding comfort in your new look. Beets.
