Im New Here

Jan 21, 2016 8:46 PM

Hi! I have OA and feel pain everyday which probably all of you can relate to. Some days are worse than others, it all depends on how inflammed I can. I can tell when Im swollen because I can barely move and it takes alot of effort. Also the swelling is visible from one day to the next.

Sometimes the meds work but sometimes they dont. You know?!

I just take it a day at a time and not let it get me down.

It sucks though.

Welcome to the community Gabey! I'm sorry you have OA, as I do too. I found out yesterday that it's now in my left hip, and standing on it is bad, but walking is even worse. I just grin and bear it because it's only going to get worse, until I need joint replacement. It's throughout my spine and knees too. I also have Sjogrens, which my docs said can settle in the joints too, along with fibro. Exercising to stay mobile, even if it's only 5 minutes at a time, will help you keep flexible. I use Voltaren gel (rx) a lot. Taking life a day at a time is all any of us can do. And this community is here for good and bad days. Hugs & prayers you'll find ways to help make it easier from day to day! πŸ™‚πŸ™πŸŒΌπŸ’•

Gabey, welcome to our community family. I'm sorry that you suffer with pain so much but keep that positive attitude.. There are days it's near impossible to do but know that on those days, we're all here to pull you through. There are no judgements here. We pray for one another, lean on one another and help each other through rough patches and celebrate with each other for even the smallest victories. We are a very close, tight knit bunch and I am proud to call these folks my pain family. I generally refer to everyone as my peeps.. LOL!! I come here and see who needs a lift or a smile or just someone to listen, just like everyone else. There's always someone here when you need them day or night. I have had chronic pain for a bit over 22 years and have had 29 surgeries. I have DDD, DJD, TMJ, cervical spondalytic myelopathy, scoliosis, lordosis, MTHFR gene mutation, hypothyroidism, anxiety, depression and a laundry list of other crap I can't even remember right now. With the help of a good team of doctors (pcp, pain management, rheumatologist, neurologist, psychologist, gi doc) I have been able to make my life work. I can still do some stuff and still mourn the things I can't any more when my days are really bad. However, it always makes me feel better if I can come here and help any of my peeps. This community has been a Godsend to me. Sending you warm welcome, gentle {{Hugs}} and prayers that you find the support, information and comfort you need. πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»

I already feel better that you are all here sharing your experiences and how you cope with living daily with the pain. It's hard to find an understanding ear or anybody who knows exactly what I'm going through and how its effected the quality of my life. Some days i feel completely broken and I dont ever share whats going on with me.

Im tears that we have already found laughter in the pain. That so many of you know the struggle and Im not alone.

It makes me smile.

You'll never, ever be alone hanging out with us. I was just saying on another thread about moving slowly except when grocery shopping (then I can walk faster than the cart because I want to get the hell out of there!!). I'm glad you're smiling. That puts joy in my heart knowing that we can make someone welcome and feel safe and understood. Sometimes that's the hardest part. People don't get it because they don't feel it. I usually say, think of the worst pain you've had in your life, now multiply that by ten and think of it being there 24/7/365.. They get it then, if even for a moment. But they can never truly understand. We can because we live it. Never worry about holding things back. You're having a bad day, we're here, no apologies, no judgements. Just know that you are now part of a great big, zany, wonderful family. {{{Hugs}}} πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

Welcome! I'm also pretty new. In the short time I've been here I've been so welcomed and supported! I'm still going through the process (long process) of determining what's wrong with me. All the best to you!
