In complete Agony

Nov 24, 2015 5:29 AM

Saw new doctor last week who advised against taking Oramorph as It would stop working.
I'm in complete agony today and my new normal pain meds are not working.
Not a good day for me 😢

I am so sorry you are suffering. Some of the medications do stop working after time but that doesn't mean the doctor shouldn't try. I am sorry it's such a bad day for you. Can you call the doctor's office and speak to the doctor and ask for something else to get you through? I wish there was something I could do for you. All I can do is send gentle {{{Hugs}}} and prayers and let you know that I'm here if you need me. Hang in there, you're not alone, I promise.💕🙏🏻🌻

Celia I'm so sorry your pain is bad today, please be gentle with yourself and like Alwayz said maybe it's time to call the doc?

I feel your pain! I've seen the doc today. I've been taking dihydrocodine for about 2 years and it barely works anymore. I feel like I can't look after my home and family properly anymore and its been getting me so down. I went to ask for some more oromorph which another doctor prescribed me last week to help me get through the day whilst I try taking gabapentin. It hasn't done anything so far and I don't expect it to really as my pain is muscular, connective tissue and joint pain, not nerve related. I burst out crying and left feeling really mad and asking reception if I could see another Dr. I feel so hopeless today. I think my Dr thinks I just want drugs but all I really want is to be able to look after my children and partner like I should. Damn, what a rant!! Lol sorry bout that haha. I don't have many people to talk to. I hope you get the relief you need soon. I think talking to the right doctor is a must. X

I am so sorry Calia. Sometimes in order to get more help, I will go down the list of every medicine, procedure and treatment I have received and I am doing at present. Then I put the question to them,
What am I not doing that I can do to alleviate some pain. Then I try to come up with my best descriptions of my pain that they can compare on their own body. Something that they may have experienced that they can magnify the degree you are feeling. When you think about it, our doctors get everyone coming in telling them they are in pain. A minor pain like a toothache can be hell to someone else. So it is hard for them to know one from the other. The more descriptive and the more you explain what you have been doing to get it under control will let them see that you are not the average joe seeking pain pills. They will see you have been trying anything and you need help. Maybe you are doing this already. This is how I got my help.

That is good advice profiler. I have an appointment on the 2nd and I am going to do that since the Dr I'm seeing is fairly new. Zazza, rant all you need to. Calia, I'm so sorry you are having such a bad day. The Oramorph is a high powered medication. Did it ever help? Do you have other meds for breakthrough pain? I'm sending you healing thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for all your replies - it is good to know I'm not alone. I managed to get through yesterday as difficult as it was. Could only rest.
Today started out much the same so couldn't go to work for the third day this week.
I'm feeling a bit better although will still have to rest some.
Hope you all are doing ok today.
