Can i ask ... does anyone on here suffer with there water works? Over the last 2 weeks i have noticed that i am increasingly finding it difficault making it to the loo in time. As if fibro isnt dominating enough of my life.. now it seems to want to claim this! So sick of fibro..seems its taking over :-( I cope with everything else but..cant cope losing my dignity
Hi JulianneE, I can't say it has affected me but sometimes I do feel the urge more. I wouldn't be surprised that it could be part of the fibro but go see your doctor to make sure and to get some help for that too. Good luck dear.
It is definitely part of the fibro and can be a side effect of pain meds, but more than likely just the fibro. There is physical therapy for bladder control problems. I have had control problems since long before my fibro diagnosis and it has gotten worse as my pain levels get worse. Also, caffeine makes it much worse.
I don't have fibro, but I was just recently put on a medication that some fibro patients take and I have noticed that I have to use the bathroom so much more then I had before and I have run to have to make it. Do you think it could be a medication?
I have had overactive bladder (OAB) for 20 years, way before I got fibromyalgia. But I now have Interstitial Cystitis (IC) and the doc said it's likely due to pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD). I have pelvic floor and organs that spasms painfully if I'm on my feet too much, walking or standing. 🙏🌼
I had bladder leakage, I wouldn't even have the urge until I would stand up, and I had no control it would just start to pouring out before I could get to the bathroom. I had to wear I the type like panties for 3 years. I had Gastric Vertical Sleeve surgery in 2013 and I do not have the problem any more. Good luck.
Weezie, that's part of why I'm getting PT for my pelvic floor muscles. When the muscles are too tight or too loose, you have inability to control your urine and/or bowels; harder to not go, or harder to pass it. And the pelvic floor muscles are tired into the upper thigh muscles. Stretches to keep them loose is important. Some of the therapy is the kegel exercises learned for childbirth, to tighten some. Others are learning to relax specific muscles. It quite a challenge to get an even balance. Many urinary and bowel issues are really tied to pelvic floor (muscle) dysfunction, especially if you've had children or abdominal surgery. And both men and women get these issues, and can have therapy to help.
And my urologist and colon surgeon said meds can affect both functions also. Naturally, having to drink more water due to my sjogrens keeps me going to the bathroom a lot. My hubby use to tell the family that I know every bathroom location within aa 200 mile radius, because I had to stop at every one! Lol. I found out that the OAB & IC is likely the culprit there, along with some meds. I'm wishing everyone a blessed day. And Weezie, I'm praying for you and everyone else in the path of hurricane Patricia... Be safe! 🙏🌼
Flappsy my husband gripes when we go anywhere because I am on a diuretic also so I'm frequently in the bathroom also. I'm supposed to drink every 10 minutes so we also know where all the bathrooms are also Lol. Thanks for the prayers we are getting a lot of ran but there isn't much wind so far. I just saw radar of the weather and it's coming out of Houston and coming straight north towards us . It looks like we will be getting a lot of rain
Sorry hit reply before I was done. Funny thing, doc told me to drink lots and drink cranberry juice after my UTI. So I did faithfully. Then was having spasms and urgent need to pee. Retest for another UTI. Clear. Good. But what do about urge to go? Read up on irritants to bladder. Caffeine. Okay not giving up diet Pepsi! Looked at others and dairy and... CRANBERRIES! LOLstopped the tea, dairy, and the Cranb juice. Guess what? It's a lot better. Not all gone but not so awful. Gotta maintain my humor.
I am only 36 and i have issues with incontinence too. I even had a sling put in but it didn't work so back to the drawing board. They say exercises help but i don't know. I hope you get some help and support from your doctor. Good luck lovely xx
Hello I had to go to the last resort with my doctor that specialises in the renal system and he has me wearing pull up diapers and I am keeping dry but I stink like urin and that is GROSS and revolting and it keeps your loved ones away from you that is what happens to me so do you have any tricks up your sleeve that you could slip out of your sleeve and tell me? I'd highly appreciate it if so I could use all the help I can get, thanks!!!
I have that problem as well. I totally understand how you feel... frustrated! To say the least. I had surgery for a bladder sling, it helped for a while. Then I feel like it got worse with the fibro. However it has improved since I quit my job.
I have IC and PFD as well so I do so understand those urgent need to go find a bathroom NOW visits. And heaven forbid if anything is anybody is in my way. Might have to think about going back on the Detrol again as much as I hate to add another med. Lisab, can no longer have cranberry juice. It will irritate me to no end already.
