inflammation or not

Dec 02, 2014 2:03 AM

I am so depressed with this illness. Depression, severe anxiety and chronic pain from fibro. I am geting no help from Dr's so I am asking you guys. Is fibro caused from inflammation or not? Some say yes, some say no. If it is caused from inflammation, then at least I would know where to start. The progression of this pain is frightening.... How do we slow it down or stop it?

From what I understand blessed fibro does not cause inflammation. I always thought it did, but after much research, it does not. It is a central nervous system issue with the nerves and the fibers around the nerves. I hope one day they find more relief for us!

I feel your anguish... I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I feel the same way. I have several diseases that cause inflammation, so it's a double edged sword. Depression, anxiety off the chain, no sleep... Morphine brings my pain down between 7-8 ON meds so I'm not getting a lot of relief. If I didn't have the meds I have, I wouldn't be able to function. The weather is so bad today, I have a migraine that is making me want to throw up... I get 2-3 a week from my messed up neck. I hope you find the help you need but always remember to be proactive in your own care and that you're not alone... You have all of us to vent to.

Depression is a natural side effect of chronic pain. Don't feel like you are alone with it as many people feel the same, including myself. Don't let it get the best of you as it can get snowball out of control if you let it, so make sure you talk to your doctor about it and hopefully the doctor will get you the help you need to cope with the depression.

Jess woo, alwayzinpain and CAcampbell, you dont even know how much your heart felt responses mean to me. You all came through for me when I couldn't feel more down. You helped me know that I am by no means alone with this pain and mental suffering. You are the best. And I thank God for each one of you. Hopefully sleep is in the picture for me/us tonight but I doubt it...I'll be chatting at some point in the wee hours of the morning. Pain robs me of some so much needed sleep...

Pain robs me of sleep as well. I'm glad that we were able to help you and that you don't feel quite as alone. I appreciate your hope for all of us to sleep. If you need me, feel free to chat me up, I'm on here every day.

According to recent research Fibro pain is due to out central nervous system (brain and nerves) misfiring and they get very sensitive and register pain when there is no real danger/cause. It isn't in the muscles and there isn't inflammation even though we can sometimes feel swollen.

Thanks to all once again, knowing I can come here sure helps. You all sound much more intelligent than the Dr's.

Fibro doesn't have anything to do with inflammation but inflammation can make it way worse. My c-reactive protein level markers were very high when my pain was at its worst. After finding food intolerances (naturopath) and changing my diet the crp levels are back down to normal and the pain is mostly manageable. Fibromyalgia is usually paired with an inflammatory disease so unfortunately the best way to manage fibro is to get the other problems under control.

I totally agree with Gotobef about the inflammation. A very interesting thing to look into is Fascial Dysfunction. When I read up on this it helped me look at FM in a whole new way. Sorry this sounds like a teaser, but it's not the simplest explanation. I didn't want to explain if your not interested.
