I have not been diagnosed with sciatica, but the doctors tell me to walk all the time. They say it is good for me. But how do I do that when I can barely move at times.

Alwayz , I have sciatica and I have done walking on a treadmill hoping it would help and it did for a little while but very painful, if you have a tens unit I would suggest using it as well. The two combined will help in aide of the pain. It will be rough for a bit but it will help for a little while. Prayers and Gental Hug's to you! πŸ™πŸ’•

I was diagnosed with sciatica last year, and my doctor said physical therapy. As I had just completed 4 months of physical therapy due to my fibromyalgia, and had started gently working out at a local gym, I told him no thank you and pushed myself to continue at the gym. It took 4-6 weeks, mostly on the treadmill, before the pain eased... These days when it comes to back injuries most doctors want you in physical therapy immediately. I was told by 2 different doctors that research has shown bed rest has a negative impact on back injuries...

Alwaysinpain, I have sciatica, and I walk on my treadmill. I just keep it a slow and steady pace, no marathon. Lol πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Hi, I have sciatica also, and whenever I can, I move. The more I sit or lay down the more I am in pain, albeit, if I move too much....this happens too. So you have to find your "in between" to stay out of the pain zone. Slow and steady until you can get your heart rate up for a healthy you. Take care of yourself- your baby needs you. Lots of ((((HUGS)))) to ya!

Alwaysinpain, I also have sciatica. There are times that it hurts so badly that I can't even pick my left foot up off the floor. Those days, if I have to be somewhere, I actually have to grab my pant leg and assist myself in lifting my leg to get in my truck. Walking does help sometimes for me but I can't stand up for extended periods of time or my legs will feel like they're going to give out. I think that is a combination of my sciatica and my SI Joint Disfunction with all the new and healed fractures. I hope that the suggestions you have gotten are helpful and you get to feeling a bit better. {{{{Hugs}}}} πŸŒ»πŸ™πŸ»
