Pinkcottoncandy, I hate it! I've been itching for over 2 months every day. It dawned on me the pharmacy was giving me Deplin instead of L-Methylfolate for my B9 deficiency. Deplin has soy in it, and I'm allergic to soy. I made the pharmacy order the generic and note my allergy in the system. The itching is calming down. Hopefully after another week all the Deplin will be out of my system. Have you tried taking a benadryl? It might help with the itching, especially if it's due to an allergy reaction. You could also try taking an Aveeno bath soak. I hope you can get some relief soon! 🙏🌼
Hi. Haven't been here in a while.... It's all just too hard. Pinkcottoncandy, I experience major itching attacks usually localized to like thighs or forearms or my back - and, sometimes the itching will turn into the feeling of ants crawling around on that area and biting me.. It is absolutely horrific! Mine I pretty much figure is the fibromyalgia but it could be the Lupus, Sjogren's, who knows? When it starts getting bad I always take Benadyl. It calms it it down within about 15-20 minutes. I hope you find some relief with that. My skin also burns, feels numb in areas, sometimes I have what I call a buzzing and burning all over my back. Again, fibromyalgia. These symptoms are common ones.... Allodynia causes my skin to hurt from a light touch, clothing, covers in bed, my husband running his hand down my arm causes serious pain. It sucks. Another thing is Thermal Allodynia. I have a huge problems with cold things on my skin, lotions even have to be warmed or are painful. If I even put my foot in cold water like a lake, 10 minutes after I take it out, it is still burning and painful. It is extremely painful in the winter when I go outside even to get in the car to go somewhere... Just my entire body is in pain with the cold. And of course I live in New England and the cold weather is already getting here. Some people have a reaction to heat. Okay, I'm on a roll. When we have the burning, tingling, numb, buzzing feelings those are paresthesias. Anyway, it feels good to read your posts again. I missed this... I have felt so alone....🌀🌀🌀🌀
If you are on any narcotic/opiate pain meds they can cause extreme itching as well. Both myself and my grandma experience this. I actually developed a skin disorder called Aquagenic Pruritus which is a fancy way of saying my skin prickles and itches when exposed to water or liquid. I can't shower every day. I use A heavy duty oatmeal based lotion (Aveeno) and Cortisone for the itching. I have also used pure menthol at times when it got so bad. Benedryl also helps cuz it can turn off the histamine reaction in your skin.
I have cronic hives along with pressure hives. The itch is awful. My dermatologist said Allegra works best and suggested sarna which is an anti itch lotion which is great because I know a lot of medications are drying my skin. The Sarna lotion has been amazingly helpful
Narcotics? Yup. I lost partial function of my kidneys from using Piroxicam so I cannot take ANY NSAIDS. I take Vicodin 5/325 - 2 every 8 hours (and still never out of pain) But I have had this itching crap ( crawly skin) since I was in my twenties. I'm now 57... Graves' disease diagnosed in 1997, Lupus diagnosed 2008 and fibromyalgia finally officially diagnosed in 2014. I have had most symptoms for years but since my Mom died 18 months ago (yesterday was her birthday😢... ) and I have been one huge flare since then. But I am trying to do what I need for me... Which is hard. My husband says he understands but then doesn't help much. Oh well... When today sucks... There's always tomorrow and hopefully it will be a better day. Sorry to ramble....
