Jaw pain, non-tmj

May 12, 2016 9:38 PM

I got diagnosed with this by an urgent care doctor today. I went in because I am having jaw pain due to a wisdom tooth extraction on the opposite side of the extraction site. I've been managing it with OTC pain relievers. I had narcotics for the first 3 days of recovery.

Octopusmolar was the diagnosis? OUCH. Is there any relief for that? Hope you feel better very soon!

Ahhh okay... well gosh. You already KNEW you had jaw pain. They should give you a medical degree and a lollipop! It's possible the other side of your mouth is sore from having your mouth open wide, and possibly for a long time as the tooth was extracted. Maybe alternating warm/cool compresses and a little gentle massage will give you some more relief.

Jaw pain is nasty cuz it's so close to our brain. (winking here) Doesn't have as far to travel as toe pain. I've gotta remember that the next time I stub my toes. Don't want any nasty jaw pain, that's for sure. Feel better!!!
