I'm new to this site, in fact I've just joined. I'm in my late 70's and have had Arthritis since my early 40's. At the moment I'm booked in for a knee op on 20th of this month. Already had a new right hip and unfortunately the left one needs replacing. Had a really bad day yesterday but today is much improved. How can the pain alter so much from day to day.

Welcome to our community Julesswim! You're going to be the Bionic Woman's replacement, huh? 😉 Kidding aside, my dad has one shoulder and knees replacements. He needs the other knew and a hip but he's almost 86 and due to Alzheimer's they won't do surgery now. My sister, cousin, uncle, 2 great aunts, & 1 distant cousin have had TKR's. I'm sure that's where my joints are headed. Lol. I hope you have really good results and heal quickly, so you can get that other knee (if you want).

I've had OA since my late 30's, in my spine, and most recently in my left hip, both knees, feet, & hands. I also have osteopenia, affecting all my bones, but especially my jaw joints (TMJD). I was dx with fibromyalgia in 2012 & Sjogrens last year. I'm currently in a fibro+sjogrens flare, going into the second week, which is unusual. I hurt every day to some degree, but have learned to ignore low pain for the most part. I'm allergic to most pain meds. But your statement of how pain can change from day to day made me think. My pain does change from one day to the next, whether in location and/or severity, and depending on other issues going on that day. I'm willing to bet it's the same for everyone. I now as far as treatments, what works to reduce pain varies greatly among everyone.

I hope you settle in and find the support, and information/suggestions you need. We are a diverse group, in ages, locations, etc. But we all have chronic pain, and we know what is like to be judged. We don't judge here, unless it's someone trying to be funny in a not nice way (hackers, spammers, jokesters, etc). We try to nip them at the start. We let off team, shout about our pain & emotional stress, ask for prayer or pray for others. No apologies are necessary for having a bad day and venting. We've all been there. Good luck & God bless your upcoming procedure. Hugs, love, & prayers! 🙂🙏💕🌼
