Just a rant - nothing to see here.

Did you know that some doctors that you have on your medical team will refuse to see you if you need to be seen for complications from a motor vehicle accident. (known as mva). It is amazing the things you learn after being in an accident. My neurologist that treats my migraines and is aware of my stroke and brain bleed won't see me for this headache escalation caused by the mva. My physical therapist who has treated me before for my neck and shoulders will charge 100.00 a visit to treat me now for the muscle stiffness caused by the accident. Strange. Doctors used to care about their patients. Ah well. Got to find a new physical therapist and Neurologist. One would think that when something like this happens that a doctor who knows your medical history would be better for you than seeing someone who has no clue who you are. But hey - what do I know!

Other things I have learned. The businesses in my small town only turn their cameras on when they are closed for the day. The bank doesn't even have cameras pointed towards the main road. There are no cameras on the traffic lights. Oh and at 9:45 in the morning on the main street in town everyone's too busy to stop to help or to give the police a statement - not even the other driver. (rolls eyes)

Before last week my pain management team had my pain pretty much at the lowest level it has been in years. The week before the accident I had an epidural done. Although it was helping the accident took care of that. Now it feels like I am starting from the beginning once more.

Still waiting to hear from my insurance but am.sure my car is totalled. Sure wish the guy would have hit me the week before since on the 12th I had spent 500.00 for a new radiator and two days later I was hit. Murphy's Law was alive and well that week. Lol

Since the accident I have had a borderline migraine. My eyes keep going out of focus. My body is shaky. My neck/shoulder pain is pretty bad, my lower back hurts and the foggy headedness is back. Its hard to concentrate, it's hard to get the right words out, my fingertips keep going numb and my back keeps spasming. But everyone keeps telling me they are glad I am ok. Huh? Oh that's right - I have Chronic Pain so my routine answer is I'm fine or I'm still breathing. Lol.

How do you answer when people ask how you are doing? After all these years I still haven't figured that one out.

So what I did do - for me - was find this group. Many years ago I managed my own group online. Then my fiance took a turn for the worse so I took over managing his group too. When he lost his fight I crashed. For months on end I had been running on adrenalin. Eventually I had to let both of our groups go. Its been a long time since I was a part of a group so... Did you know that even in the darkest times you can still find blessings? Y'all are my blessing.

Have a beautiful day.

So glad you are here! I am always so disheartened to hear about your accident and the lack of compassion and care you have not received. I too find this place a blessing ... Welcome and may your day be better too.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about the accident. I'm glad you're ok, as in no blood, guts, gore, loss of limb or life. I do not understand the doctors attitudes...weird to say the least!. I've been in 5 accidents since 1985, and none of my doctor's ever refused to see me. If I were you I would ask the new docs if they'll refuse you were you to be in a second accident. And if they say yes ask why, then find one who isn't so stupid & uncaring.

I've never heard of anything even close, except that in my area no neurosurgeon will go behind another for spine surgery, usually. But thankfully I found one who wasn't afraid to do the ACDF I needed, but 3 refused due to the complications involved.

Try massaging some pain ointment in the neck & shoulder muscles then lay down and relax. Maybe it will relieve and avoid a full migraine. I get cervicogenic headaches in my neck that triggers migraines. If I take my migraine med and use voltaren gel with heat, I can usually avoid the migraine. Someone else on here introduced me to cervicogenic headaches. I didn't know about them, so I researched then discussed with the doctor. This community is so beneficial! Hugs love & prayers you can get some relief and find good doctors who care! 🙂💕🙏🌸

Sorry about the long post. I know it's sometimes hard to read longer posts - at least for me it is.

Its strange foggurl. All my other doctors have had no trouble billing my car insurance. Thank goodness for the uninsured motorist coverage I had on my insurance! It's just those two.

I moved to Arkansas 7 years ago from Minnesota because my mom had back surgery that wasn't helping. Last month she turned 78 and dad turned 81. Am so thankful I am able to spend this time with them. But it took me almost 5 years to put together a medical team. I hate, hate, hate having to search for new doctors. Ugh.

I'm in Canada but seems your insurance system may run differently then ours ... Are they not treating because a claim hasn't gone through? My poor friend has had so many accidents not her fault (3in the time I have known her) and it has set her back and the battle to keep her support is on going ... Just a thought not helpful ...
I'm glad you have this time with yr parents ...

Flappy - I have never heard of that either. I have often told my doctors that I believe my headaches are due to the really (rock hard) muscles in the neck and shoulderblade areas. They just grin. But I would think with all those muscles so tight it would hinder blood flow. :) I don't get paid to think though. Lol. Will go do.some research on that.

I.always have a headache. Had some relief when I first had the NeuroStim implant but other than that I don't remember not having one. A few times a week it goes into migraine status. I found a great app that lets me track my migraines and what triggers may have caused it, what I was doing when it hit, what things helped and what didn't and it tracks the weather and sleep cycles. When I would go to see my Neurologist I could print out the charts from there so he could see what's been happening and look for patterns. That's what have me the idea to look for pain management apps.. I also found a blood pressure tracker. At the end of each month I can go to my primary care doctors patient portal and send the reports to him. I am not real tech savvy but I am teachable.

Foggurl - my son lived in the Winnepeg/Dauphne area for 18 years. I love Canada.

I lived close to Fargo ND. I always found it strange that several groups in Fargo would take busses to Canada each month to get their prescriptions filled as it was so much cheaper. At the same time many from Canada would come to Fargo for medical treatment because they could be seen quicker. At one time the ND governor was trying to make it illegal to get medication from Canada. I thought the senior citizens were gonna have a revolt against him. (smile) he never tried that again.

The problem with car accidents is it can not be billed to your health insurance, it has to go through your car insurance. With medical on car insurance - although I have a claim number and an open claim - the car insurance won't pay anything until my claim is closed. In other words, they won't pay until.all my medical problems from the accident are resolved. A claim could remain open for up to 5 years.that's a long time to wait for payment

Here is a list of various sites for these headaches... Hope it helps.

Wow that is just nuts ... I am amazed at how hard the struggle to manage symptoms and be able to function is not supported by. ... Fill in the blank .. (aside from everyone here)

Always treading water .... Hoping for a final good result from disability in Nov .. 2 year wait ...
Wonder why people are depressed?

Well there's my mini rant... Hope your day improves pain wise.
Funny how our countries are different .. yes I know quite a few people who went for medical treatment so there was no wait.
Winnipeg is a nice city .(best folk festival).. Only been there once ... I'm in Ottawa.
