Just diagnosed...

Feb 01, 2018 2:14 PM

I was diagnosed with advanced gastropriese about 2 weeks ago and still not able to keep any food down and have terrible pain in my stomach. Will this ever go away? My doctor is sending me for a second opinion but it will take months to get in.

I'm not familiar with your diagnosis but wanted to say hello and offer my support. You must be miserable, and we can all relate to that much at least. Have your physicians offered any suggestions to help your symptoms? Sounds like an excellent case for medical mj to me. I've heard it does alot for that type of issue. Is that correct or no?

I'm not certain but I believe oscarowl1289 may be referring to Gastroparesis which is significant impairment of the stomach muscles causing food to remain in the stomach and not be digested.
Is this what you meant Oscar? If not I apologise it is just the only diagnosis I am aware of close to what you spelled.
It must be very painful and cause you a lot of distress due to the bloating, weight loss and the host of other issues it must cause.
May I ask what tests you've had?

Yes The food does not digest. They done an edg, colonoscopy, stomach emptying test. My doctor said they have sent for a second opinion on another city. For now take a pain med for stomach pain and raglan to try to be able to eat something.

Didn't they tell you a special diet or foods to avoid?

Feb 02, 2018 4:10 PM

Have you lost any weight? Could you describe your symptoms? Also, would you mind telling me what raglan is?

Feb 04, 2018 9:32 PM

I am not allowed any raw fruit or vegetables. They have to be well cooked or prued. No fried foods or food high in fat
I've lost about 10 pounds the last week. I get terrible pains in the middle of my stomach and throw up almost everything I eat. When I do throw up it looks like none of the food digested. Raglan is suppose to help me digest the food. My doctor told me I could now try neurotin for the stomach pains.

Has the Raglan been helping? If not I would try to talk to your doctor especially given the weight loss so that they can try to speed things up

The doctor said I have to go to a second specialist and waiting to hear back when I can get in.
