Gosh feel so bad. Just made a claim for employment and support allowance I can not physically do work any more and feel so bad about it

I'm in the same boat. Hope you are able to get help, and enough to actually live off of! I'm forced to live on double the max dose of pain meds so I can limp to work. I hope someday this illness is recognized as a disability and not a made up bs diagnosis no one (including the doctors who diagnose us) believes.

I get Esa support group and Pip Enhansed care and mobility. I didn't think I'd get it. Buy I couldn't work anymore. Am in 24/7 pain etc. So go for it. If your condition makes it hard for you to carry on as normal, walk, work etc. Good luck πŸ€ xx

I'm ESA I have been for a year on, im on the work related activity group, I don't goto interviews, but this was primarily for my mental health. I though fibro was classed as a disability? I'm sure it is, have you looked into this? Plus you get pip not just for disability but for the long term affect a condition has on you, I think it's after a certain number of weeks it's classed under the disability act as a disability as it affects your day to day actives for a certain amount of time. When you goto any appointments to don't down play how you feel or let them make you feel your exaggerating. I tell them straight and exaggerate to so they understand how hard it is to live with. You need to me dying these days for them actually look twice!

Thank you for the response! Yes I did call about disability and I would have to be unemployed for a year to qualify. I am a single mom of a 15 year old, working to support him is not a choice. They said as long as I can go to work I do not qualify. I'm killing my organs with pain killers to go, but I'm still going. I've seen every doctor there is and had a second opinion from another rheumatologist, both said fibro and chronic fatigue bla bla bla but good luck to me getting unemployment or being able to live off of it...but here's a script, drive safe! I'm so disappointed that I'm stuck living this way. :(

Yes I know its so disheartening. I felt distraught after pip denied me but am determined to make them see how this affects me Im on the sick at the moment not the first time either. Think I may get sacked xx

Aug 22, 2016 3:54 PM

I've been denied twice for pip, but the next time I'm determined I have all the documents letters etc to support me. Could you not get sick pay if your off? So yoir saying you need to be off work for a year to claim ESA? Where do you live?

Aug 22, 2016 4:01 PM

No I would have to be fired because of my health basically. And unable to do any type of work for a year before my case would even be looked at. I live in stupid Illinois, work in Missouri tho. So they make it impossible for me to start the process. I'm only 32, I'd have my house and car and son taken from me within the year if I didn't work.

If I had an illness that was acknowledged it would be much different.

They can't back date an ESA payment that far back As you get paid a certain amount for the first initial 13 weeks, which is the assessment phase, then from the 14th week, if you haven't been placed into a group or even had your medical then it will only be backdated from week 14.

Mine was over 10yrs ago easy πŸ€—
Jah u r such a wealth of info sweetie... 😚 mine was the old DLA ... now its the PIP payment in UK πŸ€—

Aug 27, 2016 6:25 AM

PIP is the same, it will be back dated but PIP is done from when you initially apply rather than with ESA which is the 14th week..😊

My experience:

Aug 28, 2016 2:42 AM

We must be quite lucky here in Australia. I do say this with some exacerbation though! I've been diagnosed medically unable to work due to my fibro however, the government here seems to think that I should still be looking for and applying for 20 jobs a fortnight. This is whilst waiting for a disability allowance, of which I applied for in Sept 2015. To top this off they now tell me that I have to be registered with the disability employment service for a minimum of 18 months. They certainly don't make it easy for people who are genuinely in need of help.
Thanks for reading. Rant overπŸ˜†
