Just started taking Percocet

Oct 14, 2014 6:37 PM

I started on Percocet 10/325 today, so far no pain relief. My pain management Dr upped it from Norco 10/325's that I'd been on over 7 months. Do Percocet take time to work? I took it 3 1/2 hrs ago and. o change in my pain level.
Tonight I start on Gabapentin 300 mg, tomorrow night 600 mg. He prescribed this for my nerve pain I received after the scope on my knee. I'm hoping something will work

I take Gabapentin 3xs a day. it works great for me at 400 mg. opiates don't help nerve pain that may be why you feel no relief. you need the Gabapentin to work.

how long does everyone feel it takes gab to work? I was at 300mg twice a day limited results. increased to 300mg 3 times a week for a week and went back down again because I didn't notice a difference. maybe I just need to get over seeing hoe high these dosages can get.W?

Gabapentin made me sick and sleepless. And one night I was sleepwalking. Scary stuff. Take slowly. never helped me.

I took the Gabapentin about 2 hrs ago, my first dose. I never thought about nerve pain not being touched by opiates....makes sense.

Wow, sleepwalking, that would be so scary!

I had to adjust my routine for the last two weeks for some intensive classes. Long story short, i had another flare up with the sciatica. I thank God I was able to attend the classes, but the downward spiral started Wednesday. It progressed over the weekend, by Monday I could not stand to put pressure on my right leg. I was in wheelchair mode, without a wheelchair. I ended up in the emergency room, so after a shot of dilaudid and toadol, three percocets, and two Morins it still does not seem to be working. Well, let me take that back, I can walk a little now, but the sharpness of the nerve pain shooting down my leg to my foot has intensified. So, the sharpness of the nerve pain is worse. I ended up getting a menthol patch to calm down the intensity of the nerve pain. The menthol patches on my leg and heat on my back usually helps temporarily. Prayerfully the percocet and morin will start working soon. Once I can get back on my routine, I will be alright.

If you have Fibro, Lyrica works better than gabapentin, according to my Reumy. it is stronger and formulated to give you more restorative sleep. Sounds like you have other issues though. Take care of yourself!

I lovvvved Lyrica. BUT my insurance won't cover it due to my deductible. it really sucks.

I'm not sure if it was the percocet, or the neurotin, but last night was the first time I've slept all night in over 7 1/2 months! so far, no side effects too and my pain level is much better.

Hope all is well for you. Pain is not an easy thing to deal with! Do whatever it takes to feel better, no need to suffer. Everyhthing has side effects, just decide if the pain is worse or the side effects. Be careful with the opiates. I'm definitely not one to say don't take them. I've been judged so much because of drug addicts who abuse them. They make it hard for us who suffer to get relief. Make sure to only take it when you just can't handle the pain. You probably developed a tolerance to the Norco. I've had this happen to me and I have to take a break from them. Not easy because I'm in pain all the time!!! Fibro for me is extreme in every way possible :(. Not lecturing or judging, just caring. really hope your getting relief!

Have you tried Cymbalta or Savella. They are anti depressants. Certain pain is received the same as depression. So it blocks depression and pain. Cymbalta works great for me.

So far I'm doing ok on those Percocets. He wanted me to take 4 a day, I'm taking 2-3 a day and no side effects. Oh I know their addictive and I'm being careful. The neurotin I take in the evenings seems to help too....but darn, neurotin makes me feel like I'm on a roller coaster in bed sometimes. That is such a weird feeling. This am it still has me feeling kinda weird, I got my coffee and had to get to the couch and sit down. Light headed, and a little bit of that roller coaster feeling.

Good idea, maybe cymbalta because I do get depressed occasionally.
No worries, I know I wasn't being lectured to:-) We're all here for each other. Thanks everyone and I'm here for you too 😊
