Anyone else have osteoarthritis in their knees or anywhere else?
I've had it for about 9 months now. I will need a knee replacement, it is in my future don't know when yet.I see my OS again on January 5th. I've had the steroid, and synovisc injectioms, pt, everything. I take gabapentIn..2 600 Mg's, and 10/325 percocet 4 a day. My pain level really depends upon how much I walk, hich really hurts when I overdo it and weather of course. some days it's horrible some days it's tolerable. I was just wondering how is everyone else to cope with Knee osteoarthritis?
I have terrible pain in my knees. I have a walker and cane and a disabled parking permit. don't do something so drastic without thinking about it! I'm twenty two and have had oa in my knees for several yeas now. it gets more manageable with a lifestyle change and you can get the surgery later...that way you may not need a replacement surgery later in life! can you walk with a cane? it helps ease my pain tho I stay off my feet when it comes to standing over a minute or two, and walk for at most twenty minutes at a time with a cane. I quit the injections and now take methadone all day long, and have noticed a great improvement in function by resting a lot and taking medicines regularly as well as eating and drinking enough throughout the day. I use healthy juices or milk to help add to my diet. quit the injections!! that is my advice.
I have it in my left knee and all down my spine. Ive had chondromalacia of the petella (wearing out of cushioning behind knee cap) since the 90's. Genetically predisposed for knees & hips & shoulders joint replace from the osteoarthritis. My sisters having one knee done next week. My cousin has been getting injections of Euflexa for several years to hold off joint replacement. I'm asking my doctor about it next week. Keeping my fingers crossed because this cold weather is not helping! Lol
OK! I can hang, and I see my OS Jan 5, I'll see what new is out there. I'm on percocet 10/325 X4 a day, graliseit cuts the pain..it enough. I try to stop & rest it, but its hard to do at times. I'm such an active person. This lifestyle change is hard for me to adjust. I'm filing for disability, and I have a cane should use, to help take weight off off my knee walking. I have lost weight, and the weather, I can relate! Orange, grape juice I drink often, trying to cut back on sodas, and tea. Sorry I'm late! Fingers crossed that it went well!!
I actually have OA in my knees too~ sometimes I can push through it with my knee braces, while others I just pull out my wheel chair, but it isn't fun to deal with. The cold weather always make it worse too! I take Vicodin daily and get injections every few months. I was diagnosed at 14 I believe, so I've only had it for about 6 years.
