Amy I have had knee problems for years. But the last year my left lower leg over extends causing my left knee to buckle & lock sometimes...painful! Besides the chondromalacia & osteoarthritis, I now have a large bone spur pressing under the kneecap as my leg moves forward. The doc wants to remove it because he's afraid I'm more likely to fall, due to whole right side weakness (need a cane now). Going to wait until summer or fall because too much else being checked out now. Voltaren cream, ice & heat works pretty good right now, on the knees, elbows and shoulder bursitis flare ups. What have you tried?
I was at the orthopaedist and I was diagnosed with chondromalacia patella,. Just one more thing I have to deal with. I'm supposed to go for blood work to be tested for Lupus.. I don't know own if I really want to know. It's just one more thing that they can't fix.
Alwayzinpain mine is different to yours as mine is caused by having twisted feet that is now affecting my both legs but my right knee is worse as that is the only one that is putting all the weight on when I am walking and then when it is bad Ilose my balance iI have now been referred to Jarrow community hospital
Alwayzinpain... My doctors say I have chondromalacia patellar too. Have you tried glucosamine chondrites surface supplements? They say for osteoarthritis but my orthepedic specialist says they could work for me too because the conditions are similar
Yes, I have tried those as well as cortisone shots, synvisk, and some other lubricating shots that did no good. Last scan I had and got shots for showed that the ends of the bones were actually bleeding from grinding on one another. My both knees now slip out of place and the patella ends up off to the side and the nerves get pinched. When it happened the other day, I fell. I don't heal as fast as I used once I am now 50...LOL!!!! But, I just have to do the best I can with what I've got at this point.
