Haze510, does this lump seem to get tender when you are stressed and tired or just for no reason? You have several muscles that go yo around your head and face and I know that for me, if I am really overwhelmed, I will get knots in my shoulders, neck and on my head. I went to the doctor just in case to be checked because it could have been a cyst or growth but it wasn't. I would have a chat with your doctor and have it checked out.

Haze510, Id suggest letting a PCP or dermatologist look at it. My hubby gets fluid filled cysts that are tender. They're always benign, but he picks at them so I make him see the doc. I think they were great lipomas. 🙏🌼

I've had so many lipomas!! I hate them. All they are is an encapsulated glob of fat (like I don't have enough!!😳). When they pop up, they are usually bigger than they look. They can be in areas of sensitivity and cause pain. Thank goodness they are harmless (but a bother just the same).

AlwayZ, about 4 years ago one came up on my hubby's left scapula, and the MRI showed it wrapping around to his heart. A cardiologist did the surgery. He came out to tell us my hubby was fine and it didn't encapsulate the heart. Then he showed me a picture of it. Laying on a round plate (dinner) next to the scalpel, it looked like a whole chicken breast! My hubby had fun showing that picture around! 😵 Lol 🙏🌼

I'll bet he did!! They can get really massive and grow in areas that make it precarious to remove them. Then you have angiolipomas that have a lot of blood vessels in them making it harder to remove them and also they cause more pain.

He had one the size of a baseball removed from his buttock. They did it in the office, awake, because all they could see or feel was the size of a nickel. He already didn't have much butt! And he couldn't sit well for a month. I had him and my dad (prostate cancer surgery) recuperating together...oh joy!

Wow, what a treat for you Flappsy! See, they are almost always it larger than what you can see or feel. I pulled one out of myself once. I had put a lidocaine patch on it, waited and made a very small hole, then I squeezed it and some of it popped out of the hole. I took a hemastat with long handles, grabbed it and started to twist it to get a good grip and then pulled. It hurt like hell when it was pulling free from the tissue it was attached to but I got it all out (in pieces). It was so weird to look at this hard, yellow encapsulated fat. The last ones I had, there were 15 of them in my abdomen. They just made one huge elipse and took them all with one incision. The scar is 14" long and that's when I got that horrible infection that left me with a stinking, infected hole that went all the way down to my pelvic bone. The end result is adhesions and numbness of the skin and burning and pain.

Ouch! You're braver than I am! 🙏🌼

Yikes! Now I have nightmare-fodder for sure. Geez! Haze, I would get it checked out, even if they need to do a biopsy. My mom had a growth on her head, that was off and on tender for a year, and the drs were all sure it was just a cyst. Well, they did the biopsy and it ended up being melanoma. They were able to get it all in the surgery and she's recovering well, but I just say, let them actually test it before they say it's nothing. If it's tender or growing, get to a dermatologist! Better safe than sorry.

LOL!!! Sorry, Octobot!! I think I was a doctor in another life. I took my Dad to the Orthopaedic Doc when he had his knee replaced and he had Ca horrible infection. The doctor donned his gloves and was taking infected stuff out of his knee. I asked if I could help and I donned gloves and was in there right along with him. I've been in the OR with the vet and have also seen autopsies done. Yes, I'm gruesome!! LOL!!! Sorry, y'all 😳
