Leg pain

Jul 07, 2015 11:05 AM

Hello, I am new.I have fibro and I am 57. I was diagnosed in 2006. I have noticed my pain seems to always be in my legs and neck. I sometimes think if I was diagnosed correctly. Then when I get a flare up I know I was. Is there anyone that has more centralize pain?

Welcome tcharest6! I'm 53 and I've had fibromyalgia since '08-'09. I have tender points all over my body and they're in a constant state of deep tender pain. I also have stiffness in the mornings. When I have a flare up every inch of my body hurts, some areas more than others.

If you're not sure about your diagnosis I'd suggest getting a second opinion. Doctors have been known to make mistakes, and to tag patients with fibro because they are to this or to busy to care, and fibro symptoms fit so many other illnesses. I've just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and sjogrens, both of which shares symptoms fibro and each other. Are you under a rheumatologist? Check out several websites: www.fmnetnews.com & www.living-smater-with-fibromyalgia.com. There's a lot of helpful info. I hope you find this community as caring and helpful as I have. I'll keep you in my prayers. 🙏🌼

Flappsy pretty much said it all. I'm happy you found our community family. You can get a lot of information here as well as folks to chat with, vent to, laugh with, etc. I have Fibro also and when I'm in a flare I can't seem to find any part of me that doesn't hurt. I do have stiffness and pain always but if I sit too long, I really get stiff. I hope that you get another opinion if you're not sure. I'll Leroy you in my prayers and hope you get some relief.

Hmmc isn't it possible you have CRPS instead of Fibro, or maybe both? There are a number of ppl here in the community that have it (I don't) that could explain it. Google CRPS and a ton of good resources come up. Hope this helps!

Amie suggested it might be CRPS/RSD (complex regional pain syndrome or reflex sympathetic dystrophy) which I've been diagnosed with.
Just a heads up, I always ask tons of questions, but you don't have to answer any of them, and some I didn't know how to answer until a month ago.
Do you have circulation issues?
Is the pain focused mainly in your limbs? (like CRPS) Or spread out all over? (like fibro)
Do you feel tingling, numb, burning, or freezing sensations during a flare?
Did you ever have a surgery, broken bone, or injury in the painful limb(s)?
Do your legs turn red, white/gray, or purple/blue?
Has arthritis and other diagnoses been ruled out?

I would look up allodynia, a common symptom of CRPS. It is a painful sensation caused by things that should not be painful. (For example, waking I screaming from your blankets touching a limb)

It could be anything.

Best of luck getting a more accurate diagnosis
