Looking for a new PCP

Mar 02, 2016 10:21 AM

I live in Perce County WA and I'm looking for a PCP that will actually try to figure out what's wrong with me. All doctors tell me is there's nothing on the x-ray and nothing on my MRI so they can't help me.

You're right .. You need a new doctor. My PCP is wonderful but I live in Ohio. I hope your search will not be delayed and you will find a doctor who is actually willing to practice medicine well.

When you've gone to the doctor, have you brought along a list of your symptoms and a list of questions that you want to ask the doctor? Also, while you were there and told there was nothing on the X-ray, did you ask the doctor about where else you could go based on your symptoms since he made it apparent he wasn't the one who could help you? You always have to be prepared for a test result to come back and show nothing. (Especially when it comes to some of our types of issues). You want to be able to ask them to direct you to another doctor that may be able to help you or is willing to go the extra steps to find out what's wrong. Make sure to continually be your own advocate and be proactive in your own care. In the long run, it may save you some time and aggravation in getting your diagnosis. I wish you the best of luck. {{{Hugs}}}💕🙏🏻🌻

I need a new one who understands and comprehends the amount of pain I am in.

Mar 02, 2016 7:41 PM

What does that mean? Tam-tam? You need to be more specific, we all understand and comprehend the amount of pain you are in.what are your expectations? Are you willing to think outside the box..are you willing to try different methods, or is it just narcotics? What plan did you want..did you speak with him about
It. Proactive healing is very hard work. Please don't rush to th decision, think about it, what are you willing to try and what are you firm about? I would suggest some counseling as well, this is always a great tool to help us find our way, while trying to make decisions and cope with the pain. I hope you can start feeling better and that the pain levels calm down. Much love and blessings, Terri

I am in King County washington so no shortage of doctor choices. I researched PCP online and hit a home run first try. Think of what is important and use that as a foundation. My doctor is internal medicine/PCP with interests in Diabetes, Heart Diseases, Women's Health, Mood Disorders. This was perfect for what I was looking for and what my overall needs are.

I drive to Tacoma for my Rhuemotolgist who is awesome also but it took me months to get in.

I did want to add that at a doctor appointment you need to pick one thing and describe it clearly. Not I hurt all over. I focused on one spot actually drawing on my back with marker the spot it hurt and direction the pain went. Then I described the pain specifically starts here burning tight pain that shoots around this way and causes this. This allows the doctor to focus on your issue. Go in every week if you have to tackling one thing at a time.

Start with your insurance companys website list of pcps, find one accepting new patients. Collect a couple then look them up on doctor review websites. This is how we found my partners doctor and it was very effective.
