Imatute, Ive had fibro since 2007. But I've had glasses since 1978. I was dx with sjogrens in 2015. From 2005 forward I needed new glasses prescriptions on a yearly basis. I went into bifocals in 2006, and in 2008 I went to trifocals. Last year when i began having more blurred vision the doctor was shocked to are my vision had changed in 8 months time instead of 12. Even with the new rx I'm still having blurry issues. But I'm not sure I can say it's the fibro. If anything I'd say it's my sjogrens.

I R got my glasses recently doctor said have actimatism and mehopia. But this blurry vision scares me cause I feel I'm about to pass out!

Oh, sad. I am having issues too. Keep cleaning my clean glasses and taking them off and on to see which is better... The glasses every time but yes, this is scary. Is it permanent? From the pain that's not responding to meds? Is it the heat, fibro, the ms? Crap.

I woke up blind then regain my vision after several months...I think it is related to fibro.....I get stronger prescription for my right eye which now consists of dry eyes....

Jun 09, 2016 6:19 PM

Are you taking gabapentin or lyrica? Both caused my vision to be very blurred. Also if you take plaquinol it can cause vision problems that can be permanent. I have not heard of fibro causing vision issues. That being said doctors still do not know much about fibro and even worse many doctors do not even want to believe that fibromyalgia is even real. If you have not already please ask your Pharmacist to see if you are having side effects to any medication. Please keep us posted on the outcome.

I was taking hydroxychloroquine 200 mg....know I am taking Lyrica I gave a eye doc In a few days. ..expecting good news but not really. ..oh well God won't give us more than what we can handle...

Hey, good thought LMB. I'm on Gabepentin and have gained 20lbs in about 3-4mos, eye issues may coincide. Huh, time to research and call docs!

My vision has changed tremendously in the past 3 years. I have fibro. It can hurt like major pressure in the eye balls. Light sensitive, change in focus and blurriness. It happens for long periods. While o Lupron and lyrica it got really bad. I have seen eye specialist, says nothing physical is wrong with my eyes. Another doctor said it could have to do with the nerves, nerve endings due to fibro.
Beets 🤓

Hey beets, thank you for that explaination about the nerves. Makes sense that it could be both medicine and fibro related at the same time, like so many of our Sx are.

It's been so blasted hot here that I forgot to research this. I went out to do four errands, did one, wandered around for a while and went home without realizing I'd forgotten til hours later.

Jun 10, 2016 8:01 AM

Beets, that does make sense about the nerves. Thanks for sharing that!

Autoimmunes, I forget stuff all the time. It's gotten so bad my hubby finished sentences for me! Lol

Wishing everyone a good, cool place to stay this weekend! The GA humidity is awful and the temps are going to make it dangerous to be outside. I saw it's going to hot in lots of state. Think snow,🍦 or eat snow cones to start cool! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Wow. I didn't know that, eye problems were part of Fibromyalgia. My mom has a friend who has fibro. I'll ask my daughter's orthoptist Cynthia(cause, I really like her) What she knows about it.

Dec 10, 2016 7:29 PM

Ive got fibro, diagnosed aged 27, worn glasses since aged 7.. my sight is bad but since ive been kn lycra its dtriorated alot...

Dec 11, 2016 10:03 AM

I don't know if Fibromyalgia causes problems with eyes but some of the medication does. For instance - they can cause your eyes to get dry .. I use artificial tears.

Recently my eye sight was getting real blurry. They did a retina scan and found I had a hole in the retina. Had laser surgery that day. I still get what feels like a film over my eyes. Blinking a few times can ease that though. They also found scarring on both eyes so I have to go back if vision gets blurry again or of I start seeing floaters etc.
