That was the very first symptom I had before the big pain journey began for me. Seventeen years later I still have it, as well as all the really severe pain. Have been riding the recumbent bike as neurosur. advised, but today my tailbone & leg got so painful I stopped after 22 minutes. I think I am rolling my eyes with wonder at what to do next. Cycle right into worse & worse pain? Stop at worsening pain? Wonder what surgeon would do if he had this pain?
Onica, I've had tailbone pain since 1997. I slipped and fell on a wet floor. Although nothing showed on xrays for years I now have issues with the SI joints and the coccyx; abnormal movements & fusing from OA in and around the discs & joints. I cannot sit on any hard surface. Walking & standing does help for short periods, but after 20 minutes my upper spine is pressing down, causing similar pain. I purchased a coccyx pillow and use it in my car, on hard chairs, etc. It doesn't alleviate the pain but it makes it more tolerable, especially while eating at the table. I use a lot of voltaren gel ointment, 3x a day. I wear shoes with good padding, and I have orthotics that have extra cushion. These are the ways I've adapted to make it less painful for me. I hope something I've suggested will help you. Hugs& prayers! 🙂💕🙏🌼
My sacrum hurts so bad I can't even touch my back. It feels swollen the rhuemotolgist ordered an mri of my hips. Since I was rear ended 20 years ago there has been popping in the same area. I can't handle riding in the car for long, pushing on the brake hurts so I rarely drive, sitting hurts, walking hurts even laying down hurts.
Shammagren, I stood up and started walking when the right side of my tail bone popped and sent shooting pain around my hips and down my leg. I almost fell because my leg tried to collapse. And I reached around to press the area and omg! A little while later it popped again, going back in place. Then while walking slowly on the treadmill it did it again. Who would think that tiny section at the end of the spine could cause such pain. I just bought some Gravity Defy walking shoes. They help cushion my legs and back. I hate this. I never thought about it until you said it, but I had a car accident that injured my low back& right leg the years before I feel on the floor. I'll bet my injury started then.
Mine pops right in the sacrum I told them that when I was in PT after the car wreck they just looked at me like I was crazy and discharged me. The pain comes around to the front of my hips and makes me weak in the legs just like you describe. The dr said the area feels swollen and seemed to think that is why it is so hypersensitive. My MRI isn't until June 1 if I discover anything interesting I will let you know. If I remember correctly we have similar spinal issues.
Hi there, I've had sacroiliitis for years and cannot really lift anything. It has involved my tailbone on and off. I ask the UPS guy to put the boxes inside the house and he nudges them forward an inch. Some people have no idea how others have to think about every possible injury and limitation. PT helped me, but doctors and imaging did not. I saw many different PTs over 9 years until one knew how to treat it. Now I can sit with a cushion that has a cut-out for my tailbone. It's called Cush tush. Maybe it can help you. Hug!
According to the latest x-ray, the coccyx/sacral areas are fusing already. I'm hoping to get the doc to do an MRI on my mid-low back skin. I have one this morning on my neck because PT has not helped, especially the left side. Keep us posted, and I'll do the same. Hugs& prayers for all! 🙂🙏🌼💕
