Lumbar facet joint injections

Dec 05, 2014 7:35 AM

Well so far so good! Just got home after L3,4,5 facet injections and I feel great! My knee and groin pain have nearly disappeared , still ache to upper back but not as much.
Let's hope it continues and lasts a decent length of time.
My anaesthatist told me to dismiss my diagnosis of fibromyalgia!!!!!! There's hope for me yet :-)

I sure hope for you that they work out!!! My relief (same area) lasted exactly 24 hours and after the lidocain wore off the pain returned. I'm now scheduled for a lumbar epidural.

My lower back legs and groin pain are still good but it has highlighted pain in thoracic spine which has always been there but now the worse pain has gone I can feel lol, I'm waiting for my first ever spine mri, praying it's something fixable and not fibro, for the first time in years I have hope!!!! :-D

Momof5 they put plenty of lidocane in first, it's done in theatre and its xray guided, it felt a bit like an epidural !! It did make make my toes curl a bit but it wasn't painful just a very odd sensation.
I know it doesn't help everyone but I want a life so decided to give it a go, I will definitely have it further up my spine if it's offered x they gave me a sweet coffee when I got back from theatre and I got dressed and went home, very very happy x

I have fibromyalgia but LSO have DDD, previous neck disc fusions and osteoarthritis all down my spine. When I started epidural steroid injx in 2012, it was for my lumbar area. They also treated my cervical & thoracic regions, two series of 3 injx each time. My last treatment was in Jan 2014. I was blessed to have the ability of light sedation, because I have a huge fear of needles and "pain coming from outside my body" (not from within). I've done really well with a large improvement since 2012, except for the fibro & pelvic floor dysfunction. I'd recommend injx to anyone, and see if light sedation is an option. Good luck!

I'm so happy to hear from everyone who got relief from tha injections It gives me hope that the cervical ones I have coming up will help me. The pain management doctor explained to me that because I also have a ruptured disc and some bulging discs in the lower back there was a risk that solely treating the facet joints wouldn't be enough. Now we're moving on to an epidural and hopefully this will help. Wishing everyone a nice Sunday with minimum pain!
