I heard on the news today that Selina Gomez is taking time of from singing & touring because she's been dx with Lupus.

Aug 31, 2016 5:07 PM

This has been going on with her for over a year. It is good that a celebrity is bringing this disease into the spotlight.

Aug 31, 2016 5:49 PM

Wow! She is so young to be having such a nasty disease! But unfortunately they are not age discriminate.

Aug 31, 2016 6:57 PM

Nick Cannon also has it. At one point he went into kidney failure and had blood clots in his lungs. He has lupus nephritis. His doctors have told him to slow down and get more rest. I'm not sure he has.

Aug 31, 2016 7:18 PM

U scared me at first with ur title. I thought u were saying U had Lupus. Sheewwww but still sad for her.

Aug 31, 2016 7:21 PM

I have it. That's why her title caught my attention.

Aug 31, 2016 7:29 PM

Okay, I have a question, I was told that Sjogrens is a form of Lupus. Is this correct??

Aug 31, 2016 7:54 PM

Not a form of it but an over lapping autoimmune disease. I think I have it as well. They also think I have scleroderma another over lapping autoimmune disease.

Aug 31, 2016 8:03 PM

Okay, because I have both and my sister said that the reason I had both is because Sjogrens syndrome is a form of Lupus and I don't believe everything she say's I do research stuff but haven't had much time lately, being a bad girl lol.

Aug 31, 2016 8:05 PM

Ha! Smart lady. You can have sjogrens and not lupus. 🌻

Aug 31, 2016 8:07 PM

Yeah, I'm very much so a big advocate for my Children's and my health, so any new diagnosis I learn as much as I can.

Aug 31, 2016 8:14 PM

Me too. We almost have too since docs seem to tell us very little. My doc's have diagnosed me but told me absolutely nothing at all. I'm so glad I researched before my diagnosis. Sorry by the way that you have lupus and sjogrens too.😥

Aug 31, 2016 8:21 PM

It's okay I just live every day and every moment with my kid's and family and thank God for every minute that I'm on this earth to see my babies grow into young adults and hopefully to the day that they get married and have kids of their own.

I have lived out my most horrible nightmares when my ex left and I became a single mother without a job and then becoming sick and my daughter became ill, so as flappys said earlier this is a way of growing and learning , God has me going through these things for a reason and I won't question him why. I have grown and learned to stand up for myself better than I have in the past, and I have been doing just that. Praying you have a blessed and low pain night! Hugs love and Prayer's! 🙏😘🌞💐

I'm just getting back on today, taking my time reading all the posts due to my arm & shoulder flares after a few minutes use. Im glad Gibber answered about the sjogrens & lupus not being the same, but both being autoimmune. I think I heard either Serena or Venus Williams have sjogrens. You'd think these well known stars would become active spokespersons for these diseases and research. My doc's haven't told me much either. And I was shocked that my PCP (not my rheumy doc or orthopedist) told me sjogrens would attack the joints, and that's why my finger, knee, and hip joints were flaring up. But I'm still unsure of what autoimmune skin disease I have, that's causing itching, callous or wart looking growths, and splits in my creases of the fingers & thumbs. They split open too. The dermatologist said it's autoimmune but didn't say what it was. Grrr! This is pic of the hole/split that opened from nowhere on my thumb. It will scare over like the ones on my fingers. I'll post one of the fingers below.

Sep 03, 2016 8:43 PM

The split on the thumb got a little bigger. The one on the end joint of my index finger has opened up & resealed over at least 6 times since it first appeared earlier this year. And there's a spot in the center of the creases of both hands that's done the same thing. I'm not sure if it's even visible on the photo. But I'm thinking it's something connected to either the sjogrens or an arthritis.

Sep 03, 2016 9:28 PM

Geez, Flappys, I about fell out of my armchair when I read your post! That is exactly what my fingers & thumbs do, and the big creases in my palm. For years this has been going on. When I worked I had to wrap my fingers with special tape everyday or they would literally be shredded. They still do, but I always wear gloves when I clean or work outside. I put gobs of goo on each night, I have tried so many creams, oils & lotions, nothing seems to help. In the winter they crack & bleed, so I put super glue on the seams.

Sep 03, 2016 9:36 PM

Have you guys looked into psoriatic arthritis or discoid lupus. Both autoimmune, both affecting the skin.

Sep 03, 2016 9:43 PM

I have not, but I will. I just had appt. with rheumie & he couldn't get rid of me fast enough. Dx fibrom

Sep 03, 2016 9:44 PM

Oh no that sucks. I hate when docs are like that. I'm sorry.

Sep 03, 2016 10:21 PM

I hope you can find a doc who will treat you well.

Sep 03, 2016 11:17 PM

Flappys, it's Venus Williams that has the Sjogrens syndrome, she has had it since 2011.

Today has been a really bad Sjogrens Flair for me. I have been trying to stay out of trouble and even had the hubby just go get a pizza for dinner tonight.

I hope and pray that they can find the cause for the problems on your hands ladies, you'll be in my prayers! Love and hug's!!😘🙏🌹💐

Carrie Anarbor (sp?) From Dances with the Stars has it too.

Sep 04, 2016 9:07 PM

@ Silvrrry, mine have split and blurred for several years, especially the fingertips. I hope we can both get answers soon.

@ Gibber, thank you for this info. I will definitely be looking into them and discussing it with my rheumy doc & PCP. Thanks!

@ Moparmom, I'm so sorry your having a flare. You take it easy and rest as much as you need to. I had to be off my plaquenil 4 weeks due to the ACDF surgery, and the whole time I feared a flare of the sjogrens. It didn't flare, but these issues with my skin have worsened.

Thanks to the app attachments we can now really share things that might help others. Thank you PC staff!!! Hugs love & prayers for a good night/day for all! 🙂💕🙏🌸
