Lupus or RA?

Jul 17, 2016 2:11 PM

Ok so I've been seeing a rhumatologist about joint pain I've had for the last 3 months however bloods came back ok so they haven't formally diagnosed me however the last two weekends when I've been out in the sun I developed an instant rash on my right cheek I'm starting to now think this could be lupus? Opinions please.....? Also if any of you suffer with lupus is it a progressive condition?

I like you am in limbo with full diagnosis. My drs feel I could have Lupus. I have a rash that is constantly on my face nose and up between my eyes. I've been given a cream thst helps the flaking and pain. But the bumps are still there.
However,i do have a friend who does have Lupus and hers and most cases are progressive. Like most all illness it truely depends on the person. My dr tells me to not focus on what could be what I can deal with now. It's a good mind set to take. Although not always easy to practice.

Hi Gibber, do you also have sensitivity to sunlight? I didn't think anything of it until the last two weekends I've come up in a rash on my face after being in the sun and then I googled lupus and it sounds exactly like what I've been suffering with. Also I noticed on another persons message on here you said you had experienced little red bumps on your knuckles and feet etc I've had the same but docs didn't have a clue as to what it is?

Hello. I'm very heat/sun sensitive. I do get itchy bumps on my knuckles. If you suspect lupus you need to stay out of the sun. Fluorescent lighting can also cause the Same problem as the sun. Do have a FB page. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. It's been a long road to get answers. Blood tests aren't definitive. The only positive one I have is ANA but I have lots of others Lupus markers you need 4 of 11 to be diagnosed. I have at least 8. Lupus is very hard to diagnose. I was blown off by many docs before I got diagnosed.

Lils I'm sensitive to the sun and always have between. I get white spots everywhere, especially when I was younger. But I don't get the trash you describe. My dermatologist did tell me recently that the flaky, itchy, peeling bumps I'm getting all over are autoimmunes. Hugs love & prayers you get answers soon! 🙂💕🙏🌸
