Sep 30, 2015 4:06 AM

I have Primary lymphedema born with it. Presented at 17. I also have RA and Fibro.
How do you make it through?

Glenda, first I want to say welcome to the group. I am sorry that you are dealing with these issues. The only answer I have for you is one day at a time. I have fibromyalgia, DDD, DJD, TMJ, CRPS/RSD, Grave's Disease, hypothyroidism, GERD, cervical spondalytic myelopathy among a handful of other diseases that I can't think of right now (Fibro fog). It is a daily struggle to get through but with the help of this wonderful family community, I manage. There is always someone to chat with and get advice from or vent to. There are no judgements here. No matter the mood, never worry about getting it off your chest with us. I know that lymph edema is painful. I don't know what the treatment is for that. I wish you the best and hope you find the support and information that you seek. This group has been a Godsend for me and I have formed many strong bonds with several folks here. I hope you find us as helpful. 🌻🙏🏻

GlendaCarey, I'm not familiar with lymphedema, other than knowing it involves swollen lymph glands and is an autoimmune disease. Occasionally I have swelling in my neck and underarm glands that's painful but it goes away within a few days. I have noticed when it happens I'm generally having a fibro flare and Sjogrens flare. I can't imagine what you go through. But my doctor told me to use warm compresses on the swollen glands when they occur. I also have osteoarthritis and its always painful in my lumbosacral and neck, and my left knee. I any take a lot of pain meds (allergies), but I use Voltaren gel and Tylenol Arthritis, or Aleve to help, when my pain is a 5+. Gentle stretching and walking my treadmill helps some, but I have to be careful not to overstretch or walk too long or fast. I use rice packs in the microwave or freezer too. I wish I knew more to help. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. (((Hugs))) and positive thinking you will find resources and support here to help you cope better. I now others here can help! 🌼
