Magnesium Citrate

Jun 06, 2017 1:37 PM

Does anyone here take magnesium citrate? For me it has a dramatic effect on sleep, muscle spasms, nerve tingles, stiffness and fatigue. It can also be used for migraines - I still get them but some people say it helps. The symptoms of magnesium deficiency are actually the same as fibromyalgia. I am not deficient - but when I do take magnesium citrate during a flare up I notice the pain intensity goes way down - it basically relaxes everything. I am wondering if anyone else has seen positive results?

I was taking magnesium citrate. I didn't notice any difference. I read where for fibro we should take magnesium malate. So I started that today.

I take magnesium malate at night about an hour before bed. It helps me sleep and helps with muscl s.

Maybe I should be taking the malate form instead of the citrate. A doctor suggested citrate last year and I assumed it was the best kind of magnesium. Do either of you know if the malate is as absorbable as the citrate? Either way something about magnesium helps.

Yes they are OTC. The ones I buy are always in with the vitamins and supplements next to the calcium. If you decide to try them out - citrate or malate or any other form -you should check with a doctor or pharmacist for possible interactions first. Always best to be on the safe side even with something natural.

I take 400mg of magnesium everyday and I've seen helpful benefits with sleep, migraines, and my IBS.
