Medical id card or bracelet??

Jun 30, 2017 7:19 PM

I just got my gabapentin prescription and realized it says I need a card or bracelet identifying that I take this medication. I am not taking this for seizures so do I need one of these???

I've never heard about this, I was on gabapentine for quite some time. It might be worth discussing it with your Dr just for your peace of mind

Agreed

I would assume that if your taking this for chronic pain then you probably don't need the card or bracelet, you should only need them if you are taking them for seizures but it's always best to check anything like this with your doctor's surgery.

I carry a card in my purse with all my meds listed with the dose and frequency I take them and next of kin on the other side just in case of emergencies.

Yeah the reason they have that warning label on neurontin/gabapentin is that it was originally developed for use as an anti-seizure drug. The ironic thing about that class of drugs for me is that they actually CAUSE SEIZURES in me!! One gabapentin or lyrica will send me into a full blown grand mal seizure!! How's that for ironic??
