OK, going on day 4 of a migraine. And its a Friday so I can't go to Dr's office to get any relief This is a bad one...seemed like it was a little better yesterday but throbbing again today. I wonder if I have a gluten allergy.. Grabbing at straws here. Anybody have any luck from going gluten free? My main problem has been fibro, IBS and anxiety, depression Now this. I'm just tired of.my mounting list of ailments...
Blessed, 4 days of a migraine is a nightmare... I'm sorry for your suffering. I've stayed away from gluten, added supplements B12, magnesium, turmeric, dark greens, legumes, staying away from processed foods, etc.. Unfortunately, it has not made changes in my pain or migraines, but that's just me. I'm glad for the other health benefits they provide. Praying for you that you find some resolution... Also read about fresh herbs like sage, basil, ginger, among others.. You may find they help you feel better in other ways and they definitely all have anti inflammatory properties, which we all need. Good luck.💕
Hi everyone I'm new to the blog so just a little about me, I am a mom of four amazing children, I have a beautiful granddaughter & one on the way. I have a spectacular husband. However, my live has been turned upside down from fibromyalgia, migraines, 2 slipped disc in my neck, arthritis, depression, and the inability to tolerate or get my pain level under control...some days I just feel like dying it's so bad, which is how it has been for the past several weeks...any advice???? I need relieve!!!! I'm on more medication then I care to take & I get epidural pain blockers every six weeks along with Botox injections every three months to help with the migraines but here lately it doesn't seem to matter what I take or what I do I get no relief....Please help😢
Hi bunky, welcome to the group. We have lots of caring individuals that help all the time. I can relate to some of your circumstances, ihave a husband, not quite so understanding I guess, and two beautiful children. I to suffer from fibromyalgia, migraines, anxiety, depression, and just recently skin cancer. I have felt recently like I am dying to, and I'm not ready to leave my boys. So I fight every single day for them, the loves of my life. I am NOT on a lot of medication, but I know there are plenty of people in this group take lots. You might want to repost with a new topic, so the folks that don't read this particular post can welcome you. I am so glad that you are here, we all care for each other.
I rely on this group, and my faith in God. Besides that, I take Valerian root before bed, so that when I do wake up in pain I can sometimes drift back to sleep. I take adivan for severe anxiety and that is also a muscle relaxer. I take magnesium also before bed which is suppose to help with sleep. I also take st johns wort for depression, but check with your dr as that one can interfere with some meds. But it has helped my depression for sure.. I am just starting to really watch my diet and cut down on sugar. That's just some things I do. Please know we are here for you!
Blessed ... I'm so sorry to hear of your migraine lasting for so long. I can feel your pain, literally, as I have been in the same status migrainaosis for a month now. My doctor has done everything possible to break it, but my body just isn't responding. I almost went to the ER today but I hate that they just pump you full of drugs that don't help. I've been toying with my diet as well to see if I can find a trigger for them. My neurologist is trying to get me through to my next Botox injection and praying that works.
Tkaroly001, I am so sorry to hear of your migraine pain! After a month you must be besides yourself! They are utterly exhausting, to say the least. My migraine has broken, it is now just a headache. I am happy for that, but I just want to be headache free. I read how people who suffer from migraines are low in magnesium If you search for "migraines and magnesium" you can find some info on it. I take 200mg of a liquid magnesium and still get migraines but some articles suggest that I should be doubling that at least Plus people with fibro are suppose to be low in magnesium too. Just thought I'd share what I just learned last night. I am going to ask my Dr about all this...maybe there is some truth to it, or maybe I am grasping at straws. Its worth a try. Praying you get over yours today..
I am so sorry to hear that your migraine hasn't resolved itself. I have those little buggers and they aren't any fun to live with especially the ones that seem to keep on giving . Knock on wood I haven't had one in the last three months. I know I have thought if I banged my head on a wall long enough it would get easy.lol The last one I had lasted a week, nothing seemed to work. I just had to tough it out. I started a couple of times to go to the ER but like you said they would just pump you up with more drugs. If you are like me I take a bucket full every day any way I don't need any more. I just kept the room as dark as possible and tried to keep the sound level down which is almost impossible because we live in a 14/32 one room cabin, there are 6 people, and 8 animals that are in and out. It's never a dull moment around here. Hope your migraine goes away soon . Best wishes
Hi Everyone in this discussion. I've suffered migraine for over 40 years! I've tried nearly everything to stop them but haven't been completely successful. Just a bit of advice to those who are willing to make a concentrated effort - I'm now on a strict healthy eating plan and have stopped the pain by 80%. I still get head pain occasionally but not as often as I used too. I don't eat anything artificial and only fresh natural food. I've realised that you become what you eat! It's hard sometimes not eating junk food like others around me but I'm reaping the benefits. Kindest regards, Kabby
Hello KabKids & welcome. I've suffered from migraines since 1995, following the myelogram & 2nd neck disc fusion. Three years ago I started having them daily, so I was sent to a pain clinic doctor. After 2 years of epidural steroid injections, rotating through the cervical, thoracic & lumbosacral areas, and its actually brought me the most relief. But I've been having migraines a couple times a month since December.
I have several food allergies, wheat, soy & whole grains. I've attempted the gluten free diet and felt worse, so I eat a regular healthy diet including fruits & vegetables. I try to limit products with my allergens. Its very hard watching for them in everything. How do you eat without eating any non-natural ingredients? Did you have a book or diet plan to guide you? I do love chocolate and I know it has artificial ingredients, but I limit it.
