Hi, I see that you have a post on migraines. I've had migraines (daily) for over 30 years. I just survived one Friday that that I would say was a 15!! Worst pain I've ever had, but I will not put myself through the humiliation of going to an ER ever again!!! I really thought I was going to die right there on the bathroom floor as I was vomiting. Ugggghh. I'm still worried that it will come back 😪. Do you live in a legalalized marijuana state? If yes, it really helps my low level pain (up to 6) but any help is great. I have two fully grown daughters and one grand child and I never smoked anything in my life, so it seems so strange that I'm using marijuana oil in vaporizer pens, but really if someone told me drinking lemonade twice a day would help, I'd try it. I'm so sorry for your pain. I will say a prayer for you.
The longest one I remember, which was also the worst and I went to the er, was 3 days. I now realize I get a tingling "aura" with slight vision change when they start. I begin treating immediately and I'm glad to say 2 days has been the longest for almost 3 years now. My PC doc leaves migraine refills available at my pharmacy, along with muscle relaxers...not a large qty but it saves me on ER visits.
I usually suffer from 2-3 migraines a week... The worst one I've had actually lasted almost 5 days. It was a nightmare. The only headache I ever had that was longer lasted a month because my horse was being medicated and she smashed my head with hers and then my head slammed the brick wall on the other side from the impact. I had a concussion and a wicked headache every single day for a month... Never want that to happen again, that's for sure. Migraines are rough to deal with. I hope you get some relief
I ended up going to the hospital on Friday, between my back and head I couldn't take it anymore. The CT scans came back ok, they want me to go for a MRI of back and my head. They gave me three shots and said it was more inflammation.
My longest migraine was a week. After 3 day I went to the doctor and she gave me pain pills muscle relaxers and a dr excuse for a week. I don't suffer from then as often now but I have a daily headache, not sure which is worse.
My longest was a month. But I don't get the ones that have major pain. Well I do but the one that lasted a month wasn't painful for most of the time... I'm actually going through it right now 😅 but at first I was smelling things that weren't there and seeing flickers in my periferial vision. And that went on for a month. Just last week I had to go to the ER cause I couldn't breath, talk or move. Sooo ya. They can go on much much longer than four days
I am on day 15. Ten days ago ended up going to hospital they gave me three shots to ease my pain, also have back pain. If i didn't have my doctor appointment today I would of went back. I have to go to a neurologist and orthopedic doctor now, back is a mess.
I had never heard of Cervicogenic headaches before...looked them up and believe I have been having them for years! No wonder the migraine Meds my dr gave me never worked! I bet my dr doesn't even know about them... He knows of my neck problems, yet still said they were migraines. This and several other reasons has led me to the decision that I need a new primary care doc!!
My pain doctor feels that my migraines are actually cervicogenic headaches. My neck is messed up more than you can imagine. The pain of the headaches is very similar to the pain of migraines. I also used to get them in concurrence with my menstrual cycles. Both before and after. I wish I could wave a magic wand and eradicate ALL of your pain so that nobody should suffer any more. Since I can't, the best I can do is pray for all of you that God shows mercy and eases your pain.
I think I get an occasional migraine ALSO. But I've just known that this headache isn't a migraine. They feel different. Sometimes it's almost like I have two different headaches at once. Like I can separate them visually in my mind.
I have been in my current migraine episode for a month now. This is the longest one I have had. I treat with a neurologist who is a migraine sufferer himself so he really gets it. My body just isn't responding to any treatment. Even did neural blocks in my head in the affected area. Now he is just trying to get me through to my next Botox treatment. My MRI and CT are all clear. Migraines suck!
