All I have to say right now is I'm freaking tired of being run through the gauntlet of medical tests to find out why the hell I'm still having LLQ abdominal pain 6 weeks after the initial ER visit. In the last month alone, I've had 1 ultrasound, 1 CAT scan and an MRI and so far, nobody knows anything. Just went to my regular surgeon this morning after coming back to my PCP with bleeding again. Dogded a bullet with that. I thought for sure he was either going to admit me or order another colonoscopy which is what my PCP wants him to do. Looks like I'm back to the PCP next week to try to get some ideas. Anybody else have any ideas?
A second opinion from another surgeon or GI doc, since your PCP wants a colonoscopy. Is it rectal bleeding? If so, my dad S allowed a large capsule with a camera inside. Over 24 hours it took thousands of pix. They showed active bleeding in his intestines. He was sent to Mayo where they do a special colonoscopy-endoscopy that "meets in the middle", showing areas that a typical study can't reach to. He had Arteriole-Veinous Malformations causing the bleeding (he'd bled on/off over a year). They cauterized them and he's now returning to his good health. He could barely walk 10 feet before, he's now walking 1-1 1/2 miles 3-4 x a week. I'm not saying you have that, but my dad was sent through the mill over & over again until a different PCP came on board and knew about the capsule test. Good luck & God bless, praying for you! 🙏🌼
Just make sure you ask many questions. I have a friend who had similar issues. When she swallowed the capsule, it got stuck at the terminal ilium and they had to go in and do a "balloon procedure" to get to it and remove it. The camera getting stuck was, in itself, a Godsend because they found massive inflammation and an infection in that area. I hope all goes well for you and they can at least find the problem and relieve some of your pain. You'll be in my prayers. 🌻🙏🌺
Stool testing shows no bleeding at this point. Going to request a referral out for GI. Oh and no bleeding means no colonoscopy which makes me happy in one way but frustrated still cause we just don't know.
Amanda I'm sorry that you are being run thru the mill with not being able to find out what's causing everything. It's so frustrating not knowing what the problem is. The only thing is to as for a second opinion. Good luck will keep you in prayers.
Amanda, I just remembered that my dad was showing anemic on blood levels. He kept going to the ER when he'd have active bleeding and they'd run his blood work but couldn't find the bleeding. The new PCP that came on board said the previous doc should have realized his anemia was due to internal bleeding. That's what made him do the capsule test.
FlappysLady, I'm going back to see my PCP on Wednesday afternoon. I'm going to let her know how I'm feeling physically and emotionally and let her give me suggestions. I've already been to the surgeon with no success. I believe the next step is probably going to be a GI specialist. This is no bueno and I feel like I'm questioning my sanity some days.
Amanda, I know what that's like!!! Sometimes I wonder if I'm going out of my kind. I have so much pain and then new symptoms arise and I think... Is this real or am I just having a momentary pain. Then, boom, it continues along with all the rest of the pain. Now the RIGHT side of my jaw hurts and my ear feels funny.. I guess that side of my jaw is starting to deteriorate as well. 😢
Amanda, its easy for us to begin to question our own sanity, especially when new things come along. You're not in that boat alone. Hopefully when you see the doc Monday, they'll be open to investigating. Still praying they'll find your problem.
Amanda I hope that you can get the information you need from the Dr.Wed. I understand about feeling like you are loosing your mind, I think we all at some time feels the same way, I have felt like that today myself. I think I it's because we get overwhelmed and are exhausted.
I think that I'm the one who flew over the cuckoo's nest!!! I understand all too well the feeling you're losing your mind. It's very easy to become overwhelmed, when that happens and then new things happen, you wonder sometimes, am I feeling this for real or am I just upset.. It's rough. Hang in there, you've got a lot of folks here to support you.
Here is my suggestion. Write your questions to the doctor ahead of time. Then if you tape record the consultation so you don't miss any of his/her feedback. I had severe abdominal pain during my period. It tuned out to be adhesions from my Caesarian and ovarian cancer on both ovaries. Try to book more than one doctor at a time so you don't wait the 3 or 4 weeks to see each doctor. And of course I ask God who knows everything that is going on within my body to help me. He has all the power...
