Morrophine other meds?

Nov 12, 2016 3:28 PM

What meds do you use to battle pain? I am currently taking Tramadol, Gabapentin, And Mekoxicam for Neuropathic pain and Osteoarthritis...but when I get an Hemiplegic Migraine bad enough to go to ER they were giving me Morophine...I am now allergic to it...what meds helped you? What did you avoid?

Unfortunately I've tried tramadol, gabapentine and all of the associated family of drugs with gabapentine and none of them worked for me. I've found Amitriptyline works the best for me with the morphine mst capsules.
Before the trigeminal neuralgia hit I used to get migraines often thanks to TMJ. I grind and clench my teeth with cased the TMJ and when the pain from the damage to my left jaw joint built up it used to cause migraines weekly. After years of going between dentists and doctors one dentist finally diagnosed it and I was put on a low dose of Amitriptyline and migraines went from weekly to once a month....I swear by it nothing else works for me as well as Amitriptyline. You could ask your doctor about it.
Altho I'm not sure what it's called in other countries but that's what it's called here in the uk.
Hope you find something that will help you soon xx

Thanks hon. Sezxy, I was taking A my trip a line low does for migraine control and it helped me emmensly but after losing everything in Hurricane Mathew. We relocated to WV and are still in the process of getting med doc and ins. Here. I also grind my teeth..I practically bought out all the teeth guards at the dollar tree before leaving FL...they seem flimsy but I got them months ago and use it every night it really has helped tooth crackings. Hope You are having a good night☺

I'm soo sorry that you've lost everything and had to completely relocate, if there was anything more I could do to help I would but alas I've only got my words which isn't much at all, again I'm soo sorry.

I have a gum shield/guard, it was specifically made for me but I've been in a flair now for 6 weeks which everytime I try to put it on my pain gets soo much worse from the pressure of putting it on. It's just part and parcel of the nature of a chronic condition.

If you can get your new doctor to prescribe you amitriptyline again I would go for it especially if you know it's helped you before, its definitely one to try again.
I hope you find relief and find your way in the new place you've moved too xx you're in my prayers xx
