Three weeks ago I asked my PCP about MS. He said there was no reason to worry about it. Had a consult with an orthopedic surgeon last week who sent a report to my PCP saying he wanted to "rule out" MS. So today my PCP was on top of THAT. He ordered me a brain MRI so that I will have it done when I see the neurologist next week. I'm happy that my PCP is finally on board with figuring this out.
Too bad we have to work so hard at getting the medical profession to care enough about us to try to figure out what is going on with us. I have come across so many frustrating doctors in the last few years. I'm glad you are on the right path Aliya!
I'm pretty lucky on my doctors here. My PCP is always spot on when he gives me a diagnosis. And he attends the same church I do (which I had no clue until I saw him there after my first appointment). Both mine and husbands jobs are about to end due to closing of the school we work for and he knew that so he asked specifically how that's effecting me and told me we would work hard to get resolution before the end of the school year. I really appreciate that. I just happened to find a fantastic chiropractor who has continually been the first of my doctors to suggest possible conditions. He's been talking to me about MS for a while. I think the only reason my PCP didn't want to think ms is because I'm not always good at repeating out all my symptoms. My chiro sees them first hand as I see him regularly.
It IS so very sad that we have to work so hard to get the doctors to pay attention and help us. If we have certain symptoms, ask the doc and he brushes you off, time for a new one.. Doesn't the hypocratic oath say "first do no harm"?
