Muscle knots

Oct 10, 2017 1:51 AM

I have a new and exhausting problem. I’m getting literally hundreds of small to medium sized muscle knots all over my body. They hurt like crazy.

I’ve increased my potassium and magnesium. I do yoga every morning to alleviate stiff muscles.

Anyone have a magic solution that I can try?

Not really. Stay hydrated. Stretch daily. I caved in and use valium when needed, although it only loosens up my jaw a little. I still get many spasms all over my body many times a day. Try topical DMSO. That can sometimes help.

I've heard of people running something like a rolling pin along knots. Sometime helps.

Long hot bath with about 5 to 7 CUPS of Epsom salts. Stay in the tub for at least 1 hour. Drink tons of water. Are you able to get a massage? Unfortunately the only way to get rid of the knots is to bust them up either by massage or pressing them with your thumb, rolling pin or take tennis balls and put them in a tube sock and roll that over the knots until the break up. It is painful but then it is over. After that soak in the Epsom bath to pull out all that lactic acid you just released into your body. After that the magnesium will help you flush all the nasties out and make you feel so much better. Best of luck If you have a college around that teaches massage therapy you can get massages really cheap like 25.00 an hour. Just call the colleges in your area. You can speak with an instructor when you schedule and explain your health issues so you get put with the right person.

Thank you! I have issues with being touched, so I’ve had a hard time with massage. It sounds hokey, but I pick up on the emotions of people really strongly when they touch me. As a result, I tend to get extremely tense during massages. The only person I let massage me is my husband. He tries, but he’s not a professional.

I’ll keep experimenting.

I have large knots in the front and inner sides of my thighs. Uggg

my physical therapist starting using a hand held massager called rapid release. It vibrates at a frequency that resets the muscles and really seems to help me. It's super pricy but she said that there is a cheaper version on Amazon so I'll keep everyone updated when I get the link
