Muscle Spasms And No Relief In Sight

Dec 08, 2014 8:44 PM

Over the last few weeks I've experienced increasing numbers of muscle spasms. I understand my muscles are trying to compensate for my spine's decreasing strength (facet disease and bulging discs). In addition to my cranial nerves 5, 7 and 11 constantly misfiring and causing aweful non-stop headaches, the pain from the muscle spasms is almost too much to bear (despite muscle relaxers and pain pills). I'm going to try and go to sleep early and hopefully that will help some. I'm open to any suggestions because this is miserable!

Have you tried a muscle rub on your head? Like a tiger balm or something like that?

I have used something similar to that. I have to be careful because anything too "harsh" makes my psoriasis flare up. It didn't seem to make too much of a difference but it may have been too weak. I've also tried teatree oil. I can definitely breathe better with the teatree oil!

Another two days of horrible muscle spasms and joint pain topped with a bad headache and a vertigo attack. Norcos and muscle relaxers barely took the edge off.

My complaints of increasing muscle spasms seem to fall on deaf ears. I have PAand take biologics and muscle relaxants to no avail. I tried potassium but that did not work either. Now I do stretching for awhile befor going to be, not great results but it does make a difference.

I'm trying my luck with potassium, magnesium and vitamin D. But I guesd it's too early to tell if it'll help. It's crazy how much that kind of pain renders you incapacitated. I still have hope that treating my underlying problems will remedy the situation but at the same time I'm trying to be realistic that this could very well be the new normal for me.
