Hi guys I am about to rant. I called the doctor to get a referral because I have been in pain for 3 years. I asked to see a rheumatologist. She denied my referral and told me she does not see the need to go to one. And on top of that my mom and I share the same doctor. She has extremely low Iron the doctor stoped her prescription and said that she no longer needed it. WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING HER IRON LEVELS. I am so frausterated.
My Dr also did not give me a referral ... Nuts I know. I believe i have fibromyalgia .. he said you just get sent back to me anyways for treatment ... I'm in Canada and it's hard to find a Dr .. but it sounds like the Dr is sloppy with both of your health. Good luck with your transition... FYI ratemymd does take $ money so the dr can edit the ratings if they pay ...
If a doctor is not doing his/her job you definitely need a new one! I am actually on the lookout for a new Obgyn myself because I one NEVER see him it's always a resident and I tried to make an appointment to get some problems looked at and they refused to see me until my next appointment almost a year from now, and this could be surgery related problems from July. Don't settle when it comes to your health or your families. Get a new doctor fast for your mom and yourself, as you both deserve better! Praying for you and your mom that you can find a new doctor fast.
Hi, I agree with the replies; time for a new doctor. i thought that my previous doctor was great but by luck i stumbled across one that seems to do research on treatments and we chat well. They don't care what i try as long as it does no harm - very open to anything (i even tried hypnosis a couple of times... not for me but i tired it). They have provided me with specislist options and feedback about them. With chronic pain, you have to be in charge of your treatment and it's important to have people that can help you, not make your journey more difficult.
You need a new doctor. Some still have biased opinions. Your mom can get a good iron pill over the counter. I have. Is your md giving you pain mess? See if you can go to a pain clinic or at least a physical therapist.
No the doctor has not given me any pain medication. She had done absolutely nothing for me. The iron pills that my mom takes you can not get a high enough dose over the counter because the amount of iron she takes would kill you or me because her dosage she needs is so high. Thank you all for the comments it is very encouraging
My doctor said she would refer me to a Rheumatologist if that's what I wanted but it would be useless in her opinion because none around here treat Fibromyalgia and she's already ruled out everything else. You definitely need a new Doctor.
My insurance does not require referrals , check that out. Then speak to the insurance about your concerns, each company has advocates for the patient to talk things over with and would know who best to go to. You already pay for the service of advocates so use them.
