I thought I'd share the story of my cat. Might help as a distraction to you guys who are in pain.
About 4 years ago my new neighbor had a young black cat. The cat misbehaved so badly they decided to make him an outside cat. He roamed for months and would always come to my house for food and to sleep in the garage. One day he came up the driveway severely injured. He has been in a fight with some coyotes that live in the woods behind us. I rushed him to the emergency vet. They informed me that unless I paid the bill they'd send him to the animal shelter and he'd most likely be out down. I decided I needed to pay. This animal was very near and dear to me already. Against my parents wishes (I was 18) I brought him home. My parents instantly fell in love with him. He was diagnosed with FIV so he is immunodeficient.
Now here is the amazing part...
It's been almost 5 years and this cat amazes me everyday. He has learned when I'm in pain. He knows how to turn my nightstand lamp (it's touch activated) on and off. He follows me when I'm sick. He wakes me up when I start to get a migraine in the middle of the night and he has recently learned how to open my drawer and paw at my medicine bag. He headbutts me when I'm down and he knows how to meow and say what sounds like "momma". He is my angel.
I have severa other animals including my pekingnese baby. (Didn't want to leave him out).
I hope my story warms some hearts. ❤
