my newest surgery

Jan 13, 2016 2:21 PM

Hi all, I had a major operation last week on my left foot. This is not my first one but my 6th to try to correct a birth defect. I have not had an operation on it in 32 yrs and I cannot express the amount of pain I am in. I do not tolerate pain meds well as I am deathly allergic to Codeine. Luckily I can tolerate a low dose of Oxycodone, and I take 2 Tylenol along with it every 4 hours. I got my splint off yesterday and got to see where they played slice and dice. The amount of new scars is heart breaking to me and I now have 10 new screws in my foot. I took pics and posted them on FB- all my family and friends live no where near me. I am non weight bearing til first week of March which has already been its own adventure-lol. I am hoping to be able to play World of Warcraft again soon as I am bored out of my mind but I am too busy being passed out alot right now. Still wondering why I decided to undergo this crap again

Hi Krissie, I had ankle surgery sept 18 to correct a foot that healed deformed from a previous surgery due to an accident July 31 2014. Yeah I can relate to metal in the foot. I don't like it. I have five rods. Also giving up the fact I would never be a foot model and it looked like Frankenstein's bride's foot. But I have learned to stop hating how it looked and appreciate it as I still have it and I am now walking with a minimal limp. I also understand the boredom of elevating and not able to do anything. My knee scooter with a basket was my best friend. I hope u can get some visitors to help you since you do not have close by family Also give it a chance for the swelling to go down. It will look better as time goes on. What state are you in?🐴

I am in Washington St. I had a family member buy me a knee scooter from ebay which should be here in a day or two. I will just be happy when I am going to be able to start walking on it again, then once its healed pretty much my other foot will be done.

Krissie, You're in my thoughts and prayers! I had surgery about 7 years ago for a fractured bone, because I wasn't able to walk on it. When the doc opened up my foot the bone was almost healed, but instead of closing me up, putting me in a walking bolt and restricting me, he removed the bone. Screwed me up, and haven't walked right since. It took 3 months before I could walk and return to work. I've had over 18 other surgeries, the last was 5 in 1 procedure, and I'm not kidding when I say the foot surgery was the worst pain I've ever had! I feel for you, truly. I hope the knee scooter will be very useful. They didn't have them at my surgery. Hugs & prayers for a full & speedy recovery, with less pain very soon. πŸ˜·πŸ™πŸŒΌπŸ’•
