2nd knee replacement might be necessary

Nov 07, 2015 8:11 PM

Such a very painful left knee. Had a right knee replacement 2 years ago. Am dreading needing another but I can't bear this current pain to continue.

Sorry to hear that. How long did it take you to heal from the first knee replacement? I am recovering from a 2nd surgery on the same foot. First one was not successful. It is the down time and being a shut in that wears on you. Hope you find the necessary relief you need soon.

The first time was over 3 months of very painful recuperation, then a year before things began to be normal. I must say though that 2 years later my new knee is wonderful and can do anything. I usually forget Its not my own natural knee.
I hope your foot surgery is successful this time. Best wishes.

Thanks hynowom1. Dr said is is successful. Been given the weight bearing okay. Starting Physical Therapy Monday. Dr said 6-8 more months of recovery. I am in my 16th month since my accident and first surgery. My PCP says up to 2 years for my nerves to heal. I hope all the drs are wrong and I am better sooner than later. 🌜 🐎 (chasing sleep) but can't catch it...

EquineSister, hop on that 🏇🏾 and giddy up to it!! You'll get there. I. Glad the doctor gave you the OK to start bearing weight on it. I guess it'll be a while before you can ride again. I miss it terribly. I sometimes lull myself to sleep remembering my favorite rides with my wonderful Appaloosa, Lady. She was a handful but I knew her well and knew her body language. She never dumped me but did dump a barn mate that had been riding for many more years than me!! (She had horrible hands and Lady had no tolerance for that). Tossed her a good 8 feet off to the side in the woods..LOL!! It was the lady's birthday too!! OMG, I damn near died when I got to the barn at lunchtime and found out she had been dumped. I hope that you have a peaceful and less painful Sunday. Sending {{{Hugs}}} and prayers your way.💕🙏🏻🌻😊

Hypnowom1, I wish you very good results! My dad had one knew done twice and needs the other done, but due to his age they've decided not to get it done. He's 85 with Alzheimer's. My oldest sister had one knee done and she can't wait to get the other one done. You'll be in my prayers for very good results and healing. 🙏🌼

Thank you Flappy lady. The specialist has confirmed I do need the second knee replaced and it has continued to be even more painful in the past couple of weeks despite increased painkillers. So I will have the operation next Friday - done privately as I can't bear to spend months on a waiting list. Not looking forward to it all, but at least I know ultimately things will better. Best wishes for you and your family.

Hypnowom1 I personally 2 know , but my sister- in- law had both of he's done at the samevtime. She did great and surprised her surgeon by walking without support at her post op visit. I think it took her about month in a half to recuperate. Will be praying and sending hugs .
