I am having the worst pains right now in my neck. I tried rolling my head around and I can hear like a Crackling noise. I have some kind of trigger point also. It is located on my back left side of my head. If I push on it pain radiates down my neck, into my already tensed/locked up trap muscles. Oxycodone is not helping and neither are muscle relaxers. Anyone else get this pain in the neck/back of head? The trigger points are along both jugular veins and a few spots on each side of head if you were to divide your head in the middle. If you cup your hand with your fingers at the center and you palm by the backs of your ears. Also my forearms are killing me. If you get this, have you found any relief from it?
This sounds like you may have herniated a disc in your neck ( cervical) region. A herniated disc can cause pain that radiates out from the herniation in all directions, among other symptoms. I have a herniated disc at my thoracic 11-12 disc that cause pain at the site of herniation, as well as pain that wraps around my chest. Unfortunately, I am yet to find relief and am actually considering surgery.
Hi, I'd get your doctor to order an xray first. If nothing shows on that disc wise I do Thai chi as yoga & pilates were to painful for me. It really releases the pain, never gets rid of of as nothing will, but the gentle movements really help when I am able to do it. It's hard to push yourself when your in so much pain. I hope you find something that helps you.
I sometimes get this and think it is a nerve trapped between muscle in my neck. I help release it using various stretches (youtube search neck scalenus strech) it can last days or months but the best relief is seeing my chiropractor or getting accupuncture. I have also herniated discs and not sure I agree that is what you are experiencing but I am no medical prof!!
I agree with talking to your doctor about getting an xray first. I get pain in my neck with trigger points, i take gabapentin which really helps, but does not take it all away, since mine is a nerve pain problem rather than something actually wrong with my spine. My guess is that if you are not feeling pain when you touch your actual spine, it is most likely not your spine, but more what is surrounding it. Thats what my old doctor told me, but she also did an xray to be on the safe side. Nothing showed up.
I get very sore in the back of my head where the skull meets the spine. It cracks all the time and I get headaches, dizziness, and blurry eyes. There is something going on there but not sure what. I am having an xray on Tuesday. Prednisone has fixed it, so I am guessing it's some kind of inflammation. Sometimes I can feel my heartbeat pulsing there too. Weird.
