Neck surgery???

Sep 08, 2017 10:14 AM

Has anyone here had neck surgery? Fusion , microdiscectomy, etc and how well did it work. My doc says it works about 50% of the time and sometimes it makes it worse. Also did u have to have more surgeries as the years went by?

Hi, ive had a cervical arthrodesis C2-C5 (fusion) on 2009. Due to severe rheumatoid arthritis.... and yes it went well. First it was posterior and the second it was anterior.
yes they had to extract bone graft from my hip, but all went well.
I had a good recovery, but very careful if you have the surgery with an underlying condition, p,e. R.A. that limits your Mobility, because I lost it due to being in bed without the adecuate Rehabilitation in a period of 2 months, it is very important to have a good recovery paired with rehabilitation. From my own experience always recommend to find all the possible alternatives to the spinal fusion, because I think it's the last resort to save your spine from damage.

Thank you goodevah. I've heard the bone graft from the hip hurts worse than the neck surgery. I will check into this website.

My husband had a titanium something or other put between his disc in the neck. It was a great help. He has had no problems.
