Need to bounce an idea around

Nov 20, 2015 6:18 PM

Okay, here's my problem. Have been in "wait and see" mode about a breast lump since end of June. My surgeon has told me to come back ASAP if anything changes, but my mom is of the opinion that I should have brought it up to my gyns attention. The only thing is that my gyn has always told me to go to the surgeon if anything changes.
Also debating whether I need to go before thanksgiving or can it wait til after?

Well the real question is how do u feel about it? Do u feel you should.get it looked at. Would getting a second or third opinion make you feel better or pit your mind at ease? Doctor's are very ficlee at times. And sometimes you have to remind them they work for you. And you have to find one who is willing to care about you the way you need them to. If it was me I would go the gym if thy blpw u off go to a new one. You only have one body protect it

Ditto.
I won't tell you any horror stories, but I always believe that it's better to be safe than sorry. I'd go before thanksgiving. If it turns out to be something, you can count going to the gyne

right away among the things you have to be thankful for. If it turs out to be nothing, you can be thankful for that!
(Sorry about my lousy typing skills)

@new, I think that I'm probably going to go ahead and go back to the surgeon At this point, I think it's wise because she told me to come back ASAP if anything changes which it has. And yes, going before Thanksgiving. I just don't want to take any chances.

Amanda, I'm not saying this to scare you, but my Aunt had noticed a lump 4 months ago and never said anything until it was to late. I would bring it up again and get it looked and biopsied to make sure it's not cancerous. Once cancer hit air it spread's like wild fire. I really surprised they haven't done anything about it yet!

Nov 20, 2015 7:11 PM

Mopar, I've asked them to do at least a needle biopsy but nothing. Maybe this appointment will help get their asses in gear. I want something done already.

I sure pray so, if they don't do anything I would be switching doctor's for sure! Praying for you my friend! 😘🙏💕

Amanda, my question is, has the lump changed in any way? Had it gotten bigger or painful. Always better safe than sorry when it comes to any kind of lump you find in your breasts. I hope that you get it checked out and they find that it is nothing to worry about. You've had enough on your plate and need a much deserved break!! {{{Hugs}}} and prayers.💕🙏🏻🌻

Alwayz, Yes it has. Definetly more uncomfortable and larger.

Nov 21, 2015 9:21 AM

Amanda get it taken care of. Cancer runs high in my family and my mom put her funny looking mole off for a couple years always finding an excuse.....it was the holidays, I was pregnant, she was having marital issues. She finally went in and she just made it in time. I realize melanoma and breast lumps are different but I also have family members who had lumps and if it is changing there is something going on and you don't want to gamble on it and have it end up cancer and it go into the lymph nodes.

If you are familiar with my feelings on doctors you know what is coming here.....if the doctor is not hearing your concern and not being proactive move on quit letting them make money off you for doing nothing.

Sham, My doc is wonderful about hearing my concern. The biggest irritation I had this morning was from my mom. She asked me why I didn't bring it up when I was at the gyns office yesterday. I expressed to her that my surgeons office has always taken care of these issues for me. My gyn is wonderful, but he has always told me when it comes to that, go to the surgeons office. I've been with the same surgeon since 2004 so they know me like the back of my hand. I think comfort is part of it too for me.

Amanda, In just catching up on posts. I oppose you have an appt to be seen this week. I agree with everyone else that it's better to be safe than sorry. My recent breast nodule turned out to be scar tissue, and I'm thankful. I'm praying that your's will be nothing bad! 🙏🌼

Flappys, sorry for the late response. Have an appointment tomorrow morning at 9 am with my surgeon.

@Mopar, the reason they haven't done anything is because the feeling was it's just a cyst. My thinking is, if it's just a cyst, why the hell is it changing in size already? I don't get it. I'm going to ask her to aspirate it, just so I have some peace of mind.

Nov 23, 2015 5:35 PM

Amanda, I've had several cysts and depending on what kind, they always ended up growing. They fill up with crap and then they hurt and change size and shape. I had to go back to my dentist today because the hole she opened had something sticking out of it and turned out it was an abscess. Well, it drained and the thing hanging out was the sac. She had to grab it with a special clamp and pull it out. I could feel it ripping away from the tissue in the hole. It came out whole and I was bleeding all over the place. I could feel it pulling on that gland under my jawbone!! It was very painful. She had asked if I wanted novocaine and she said that by the time she'd stick me enough times to numb it, I would be all finished. It was true but holy crap!! I was going to do it myself from home and I'm glad I didn't. Well, it's out now and now I can really begin to heal. {{{Hugs}}}💕🙏🏻🌻

Nov 27, 2015 8:26 PM

Yeowwww AlwayZ! Praying for you and Amanda both! 🙏🌼

Nov 27, 2015 8:42 PM

Yes, Amanda, I would get it checked out immediately. It would be much safer that way because when it comes to things like cancer, they say you don't experience pain for quite a while. You definitely don't want to take any chances and you don't want to worry your pain family😀😀. So get it checked out ASAP. I hope everything comes back benign. Most of the time it does. Best wishes and happy thoughts to you.

Nov 27, 2015 8:45 PM

Profiler, the verdict is just a "cyst" but if it gets any larger, come back and they'll clean it out surgically.

Nov 27, 2015 8:53 PM

Amanda happy to hear it is a cyst. Just curious why they don't just take care of it and be done with it?

Nov 27, 2015 9:43 PM

Sham, basically because I'm high risk for infection and he's not willing to take that risk with it. It's in the milk duct so that's the way he explained it to me.
