Oh my gosh. My left thigh is killing me today. I've been told that, along with degenerative disc disease, I also have nerve impingement. I'm wondering if the latter is the pain I'm feeling currently. For comparison, my back overall is probably at about a 7 on the pain scale, and my thigh is at a 9. Ughhhhhhh!!!! Can anyone else relate?
Im currently having similar issues blue. I have DDD and a disc is blowing at S1/S2 sending a shooting pain thru my pelvis - left hip, down left leg to the knee, whenever i move.
then a liquid fire burns as if the fuel is in a fire... and a strong emmulating pain thru the ip to the knee... its so debilitating.
I do understand. I use a tens machine to take the edge off the pain, enough to keep me out the wheelchair! And i bought a fitbit to help keep me moving... seeing my step count for the day really encourages me to move!.... how do u cope Blue?
Lulabel, I honestly don't even know what to do to cope. Before, meds helped, along with exercise. Now meds don't help at all and exercise helps very little, sometimes even makes the pain worse. Going to doc on Wednesday to hopefully get some answers. I am MISERABLE. Nothing I know to do is helping the pain even a little bit.
Keep breathing Blue... staying calm is very important sweetheart. A nice warm bath helps me to relax, my tens machine is my saviour at the moment as i am on a butt load of meds...(not literally my butt lol😉)... acupuncture helps me... massage and reflexoloogy (or a good foot rub) are good too... but get a cheap tens from the chemist (a cheap one to start with) or delivered from ebay (£5aprox)... it really saves me at the moment.

Hi bluegypsea, this is a good place to find out a lot of what you need to know. I have DDD, OA, Chronic Pain Synd. Sciatica and severe scoliosis. The TENS unit did not even touch my nerve pain. I take Lyrica, naproxen, Paxil and amitriptyline. The combination of drugs help me to stand 8-15 minutes longer. I can move around at home where I can rest when I must, but out in the world I cannot walk very far. I use a recumbent bike at home to exercise as well as PT with large and small medicine balls, Dumbbells bands balance boards and core work. I want to stay strong as it gets harder & harder to stand up. The worst is the nerve pain. I do some deep breathing & visualizations. Making dinner is very hard as I get worse as day goes by. This is my life. You will gather good info reading some of past posts. Again,welcome
Omg, yes I can relate! I woke up one day last week and my low back was hurting more than usual. But the pain coming around the hip and down the thigh was excruciating! I knew it was my sciatica flares up, from my SI joints which shift constantly and pinch nerves. It rotates from left to right, and it's been this way since an auto accident in the 90's. All I can do is run pain ointment every 4 hours and rotate hear with ice (ice directly on the SI joints, heat on the thigh. And rest, rest, rest. My doc won't even look at the problem until my neck surgery is done. Hugs & prayers your doc can help you Wednesday!! 🙂💕🙏🌼
