One of my many conditions is nerve pain that shoots down my arms through my fingers and down my legs and is always tingling at the bottom of my feet and in my hands. With certain spots that are sharp pain. I took lyrica for a long time and now my new doctor has switched me to neurontin. I don't like either of them but neurontin has worse side effects. What can I use that's natural to try to get it to tone down are there any particular foods or supplements?
Yes. I find Lyrica a Godsend! But I also have to keep my magnesium levels up. I take something I buy at GNC, and sometimes it helps in about an hour!! It's called MAGSmart, and it was the formula was put together by a woman, Lorna Vanderhaeghe. It has other useful things in it as well: vitamin e, folic acid, taurine... It is a powder that you mix with water or whatever. I mix it with fruit vitamin powder, to make it more palatable. I would get such excruciating nerve pain and restless legs that I thought I was going to lose my mind!! Calcium and vitamin D are important, as well as a very good multivitamin designed for women. Check the ingredients: vitamin formulas in drugstores tend to have few bio available ingredients, and certainly not enough of anything. I take GNC's Women's Ultra-Mega: for me, this really works. I can tell a difference in my pain levels and my mood. Also, if your doctor suggests antidepressants, don't shoot him! There is a direct correlation between pain levels and nerve pain, and levels of the different neurotransmitters in the brain. I find my thyroid levels and hormones have to be balanced, as well. I hope these things help! Nerve pain is one of my least favorite symptoms.
