CatchMyPain Community and Pain Diary App to manage chronic illness

New and still learning

Hi! I just discovered this app and I’m trying to be better at tracking my pain. I’m open to all suggestions and advice. I am definitely technologically challenged lol
A little about my situation...I was diagnosed with CRPS in March 2015 after a simple meniscus repair. I went into remission at 3 months with an aesthetic lumbar nerve block. In October 2018 I was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. Same knee, tore everything in it & suffered a tibia plateau fracture, shattered the end of my fibula, cracked ribs and fractured thumb. I was non weighbaring until after Christmas.
I’ve been on gabapentin since I got into the trauma room. Oxycodone did nothing for me. Flexeral does little for my muscle spasms. CBD gummies does help me sleep for a couple of hours. I received my first medicated lumbar Sympathetic Block this afternoon. The block hasn’t done much but increase my pain at this time. 😢
Thanks in advance for any ideas on using this app!

Hi and welcome, I was diagnosed with CRPS in 2010 it was called RSD back then. I have found that any desensitization, activity and meditation help a little bit. You have to push through even though it hurts. If you can try doing physical therapy, occupational therapy and coping clinics. They will give you the resources you need to push through and use those muscles so you don’t have as many flares. I was diagnosed when I was 7 I’m almost 16 and it has been rough the past 9 years I have had to be druged by my parents to the point where I have little recollection of my flares that was the only way someone could even touch me to help me get to the bathroom or shower. I hope that you have fewer pain days and can find this app useful ❤️

Welcome Gabbylynn! I'm sorry to hear what you have gone through. I'm not real familiar with CRPS, but many others on here are, and there are older posts full of suggestions and tips. Sending hugs love and prayers your pain improves and you find ways to help you cope through these flares! 🙂❤🙏🌼

Thank you for the warm welcome! I really appreciate it! PainWarrior, it is my left leg that was severely injured and affected. I’m 49 so I am definitely in the older group lol
Talia, my heart breaks that any child should know pain of any type let alone this disorder.
I’m glad I this community. Some family and friends may understand what anyone suffering from constant pain but sometimes you just got to be able to vent and let the horrible feelings out to someone who actually knows what it’s like.
I’m still having horrible muscle spams in my lower back and upper thighs but I’m getting ready to go to a huge outdoor market that is an annual tradition for my husband and me. I’ve been in PT since the 2 week of my accident and that’s what has kept me going. As hard as it’s been, I usually feel better after and it’s the one place that I can see improvement. My insurance is no longer covering it so today is an evaluation day to see if maybe they will cover more sessions.
WeddingShores, I’m sorry your having a rough moment. I’m glad you have a wonderful fiancé and hopefully you have a wonderful, easy holiday weekend.
I hope everyone has a good and and a very happy Easter.

Happy Easter Gabbylynn, FlappysLady, WeddingShore, Talia and everyone on the pain app. Also Happy Passover for any Jews. I’m hoping Gabbylynn that your leg will be better soon, but if that doesn’t happen that you are given the ability to cope with what you are given. My husband and I just love going to open markets and antiquing. I take 1/2 of my pain med and push thru the rest of the pain. Usually though by the time we’re going home I’m hurting pretty bad, but some things are worth the pain plus I fear my years are numbered in doing that. 😩

Ok, just putting this out there. Read your MRI reports yourself. Since you have CPRS there are things doctor's will not share with you. One is Tarlov Cysts or cysts on your spine. Also, I hope you have been advised to go gluten free.
