Hi there, there are many of us with Degenerative issues in our Lumbar,Thoracic and Cervical regions. I was born with Severe Spinal Stenosis in the Lumbar and Cervical areas, but unfortunately had a Spinal Cord Injury. Everyone's great on here!😊
Welcome to our family community MissDDD41, and CrazyRed! I've suffered from DDD since 1995. And I've had disc surgery twice in the cervical region. My Ortho doc said Wednesday that I have an urgent disc issue at C3 now, it's slipped backwards causing spinal canal compression. We're to talk about surgery for it and facet blocks for C2 & C7 in June, for facet stenosis. I have DDD all the way down my spine, and DJD in my knees, hips, & TM joints. I went through 2 years of epidural steroid injections and now have osteopenic bones. It was worth the bone loss because it stopped the cervicogenic headaches & sciatica. I'm just starting to suffer sciatica again. I find warm showers help with the early morning stiffness. And moving around, changing positions help too. I try to walk the treadmill 15-30 minutes each day to retain mobility and have leads stiffness. Hugs & prayers as you find what helps you best! 🙂💕🙏🌼
Hi MissDDD41, I have DDD which started in 2000. I had a diagnostic procedure called a Discogram. The Dr injects fluid into the disc space to see which discs are causing pain and which ones aren't. Studies have shown that there are many people with bad discs who experience no pain and didn't even know they had it. The discogram recreates the pain in the bad discs. I had four lumbar disc causing pain (one was torn and allowed the fluid to escape). I originally had a Lumbar Laminectomy at L4-L5. I've had many Nerve Root Blocks and Epidural Steroid Injections. They are kinda "hit and miss" for me (mostly miss). I had a Morphine Pump implanted in my abdomen with a catheter running to my back allowing the Morphine to drip on my spine. It never helped and I had it removed after four years. I then had a Discectomy which left me unable to use my left leg for nearly a year. Thankfully the feeling came back over time. I later had a Sacral Oblation (with a different Dr). They insert a probe into your back to burn the pain causing nerves (in theory). My Dr left me with a third degree burn. I had a hole in my back an inch and a half deep and a hole the size of a nickel. He told me to put neosporin on it covered with a bandaid. I went to a wound specialist who told me that method would make things worse. I had to pack it everyday for a few months while it healed from the inside out. Now I have a pinched nerve in my neck. I just had an MRI and will see the Pain Management Doc on the 19th. That will just be a consult since I never had a Cervical MRI. I have had neck pain for years and have documented it with all my Pain Mgmt Docs. However, it was bearable (& sometimes not even noticeable) and I was on pain meds for my back anyway. I just don't know if I want to risk having surgery or deal with the pain. It is on my right side from my neck across my shoulder moving under my arm to my elbow. My right pointer finger and thumb tingle and are somewhat numb (I'm right handed). I take Morphine 30mg four times a day along with Zanaflex three times a day. I wish you all the best and hope you can find some pain relief soon. Sorry for typing my whole history.
Hi GreginATL, What a journey you've had! I've been having upper back and neck pain since 1975. Was DX with (lcl?) knees moving sideways, torn and bulging discs and I get nerve and muscle pain from fibro and ms. Also had a deep hole started by an ms injection infection. It went from dime sized to turkey platter sized in an hour. It too was packed and I was sent home to self treat. I have a deep scar.
I'm sorry any of us have to deal with so many issues. I can't imagine any of us not thinking at some point "why do I have to deal with this while others have it so good". Only we know what we've been through and experience daily. As hard as we try, those without pain just can't understand. :-( Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
I have cervical radiculopathy and a pinched nerve and it makes it **** near impossible to turn my head without the most excruciating pain as if I were literally in Hell with Satan himself and let's talk envy I wish I'd be like some others where their necks don't have any pain at all!!! I'm forced to say help get me out of pain!!! Please help me stay strong and pray for me and that my new prescription Ultram works with my excruciating pain!!!!!!!!
Hi, MissDDD, I have very mild case, but my body pic used to look like yours . The disease I was dx with is Tarlov Cysts. They are symptomatic thus called a disease. I have found out never ever to have a shot of any kind into the spinal cord. Plus none of the shots out there are approved for spinal cord use. If the are doing them close that is ok but not in. All pain clinics will tell you iI'm full of it, but the FDA does not approved them. My symptoms are feeling like sitting on hot rocks, tingling in the legs with pain, but no set pattern. Even the feet will be affected. Tinkling on oneself, constipation or the reverse, , even numbness. Bee stings in the privates is the most fun one. Just research, Doc Oz did a whole show on these shots. There is so much more I could tell you but not enough space.
I have DDD all through my spine. Had my first fusion (cervical) at age 32. That started my life with fibro. At 37, I had L4-S1 and all hell broke loose with my body. After years of pain from that, I finally gave in and had a spinal cord stimulator implant done a year ago. That's caused its own set of problems. I give up on trying to get relief at this point.
