New Girl in Town

Jan 02, 2016 10:20 AM

Hello I am New to the site. I was diagnosed with RA two years ago.. And just recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. After some reading I do believe I have restless leg syndrome. My skin is sensitive to touch on my legs (hip area) so for Christmas I was wearing pajama bottoms.. The annoying feeling in my legs led me to ER on Xmas.. I was in pain and it felt like needles sticking me. Sometimes I wear compression pants so my pants won't iritate my legs. My buttocks hurts so I can't sit down for to long.. I plan out my meds depending on what I have to do. Don't have any real plans yet on meds.. I have to see a neurologist and Monday I'm see in my RA doctor. So any suggestions would be great...
I read the spoon theory lived it.... Thanks

Hi Dhollis, speak to your rheumatologist about fibromyalgia treatments. There are a number of them that work for some and others that don't . So far I have tried Lyrica which didn't help at all, savella has worked, but I'm going to ask about gabapentin;I think I've built immunity to the savella after so many years.
For flare ups I am currently using tramadol, flexeril, & vicodin when really bad. I have been on opana, percocet, and something else which I can't recall right now. Sleep is a necessity, but difficult to attain for me.
Please know you can PM me or email me anytime.
Stay strong.

Dhollis22, welcome to our family community. I am sorry that you are dealing with such pain. I have Fibro, DDD, DJD, Scoliosis, long thoracic nerve palsy, CRPS/RSD and a laundry list of other diagnosis of things that cause pain. The sensitivity you feel on the skin of your legs sounds like when my RSD is bothering me. It feels like someone is blow torching your skin and when something rubs against it, it's unbearable. You need to discuss that with your neurologist. I am glad that you found us. This is a safe forum to come and unburden yourself from whatever is bothering you. We all support one another here. We pray for each other, hold one another up, support you each other through bad and celebrate the good things. There are no judgements here. We understand, we live it, we get it.. We are all here with many different diagnosis but we all share the commonality of chronic, irretractable pain. I hope that you find the support and information you need here with us and that we can help you on this journey of navigating through pain and still having a life that can be enjoyed. Welcome Aboard and I look forward to getting to know you. {{{Hugs}}} 💕🙏🏻🌻

Hi Dhollis, sounds like 'allodynia' which means nerve sensitization and often occurs in chronic pain conditions. Annoying but not harmful. Ask you doctors about this term and keep us informed.👍

I have RLS and allodynia both are hideous. RLS my leg muscles tickle with this nauseating creeping feeling usually when I'm trying to sleep, but sometimes if I sit in a certain position too. The only way to stop it is to flex the muscles. I've been known to induce a partial calf cramp just to keep the muscle partially flexed. I HATE it!!

Welcome again Dhollis22! I know I did this on another post but I can't remember if I mentioned having similar sensations in my legs and upper arms. The sensations are new to me, within the past 2-6 months, but I was only dx with Sjogrens 9 mos ago. My rheumy doc thinks mine are related to the Sjogrens right now because it comes and goes, as well as changes locations. She said we will watch and document to see if something else emerges. I'm h glad you found the spoon theory... It's so great! (((Hugs))) & prayers! 😷🙏🌼
