New here

Jun 08, 2017 5:34 PM

Male 32 UK

Just downloaded and starting to keep a diary of my pain this seems like a very good app.

Been diagnosed this month with Fibromyalgia and possible arthritis. I have also been refered for an arthroscopy to investigate the need for reconstruction or replacement of my right knee.

Have suffered for 11 years and i believe it stated with testicular pain back in oct 2006 and has progressively got worse since.

I have also just gotten here! But in other words I have insomnia and I placed that In my thing and it alerted me that you have it to is that a correct assumption ?

Jun 08, 2017 5:39 PM

Not really insomnia but I suffer extreme fatigue and exhaustion but cant sleep at night due to the pain.
(i get to sleep but constantly wake up so never get proper rest)

Jun 08, 2017 5:41 PM

Mine is a bit more complicated but less about me so fibromyalgia huh ? Don't know much my family never gave me much info only that my condition is similar to that of fibro.

Jun 08, 2017 5:46 PM

From what i have gathered so far it seems like a dump diagnosis.
Kinda like a doctor saying "you have an infection" the truth is they dont know exactly what is wrong. they have done many tests and they have mostly come back negative so they cant locate a cause for the many symptoms you suffer. (there are a lot and some are mild while others can leave you crippled with pain) It seems like they just say well we dont know what it is so we will call it fibromyalgia

I may be wrong but thats how i feel. was only diagnosed 16th May but as i say i have suffered for 11 years now. 😣

Jun 08, 2017 5:48 PM

I may be able to give you some insight can you tell me your simptoms (ack look at me playing doctor XD)

electrifying skin (when youched even lightly)
exhaustion

confusion
ocular hypertension

there are more but cant think right now

Jun 08, 2017 5:56 PM

It seems like it could be a little bit of something called EDS and or Musculoskeletal joint pain but can be linked to other conditions it is mostly known as EDS or Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

Jun 08, 2017 5:58 PM

Never heard of that but will look it up

Jun 08, 2017 6:00 PM

If you can see if you can test to see if you are hyper mobile (double jointed) by attempting to move your thumb down to your wrist if it gives you any resistance then stop

Jun 08, 2017 6:05 PM

I am in no way double jointed lol

Jun 08, 2017 6:06 PM

Then maybe not haha it's all in the genes my friend while you don't have hyper mobility my genes skipped twelve generations to mind and now all my joints are hyper mobile.

Jun 08, 2017 6:09 PM

Not sure thats my issue.
i do get restless legs where the pain is so intense it causes spasms which in turn cause pain enducing more spasms (never ending circle)

V3--suggest a book by Dr. Liptan "The Fibro Manual". Fibro has its own set of symptoms with specific cause--hyperreactive nerves from abnormalities in Central Nerve System. Tests are being developed that point to a specific cause that will make diagnosis easier. It is no longer a "dump" catchall type diagnosis. Have not done justice to fibro as a diagnosis in its own right. Highly recommend the book. I am sorry that you have to have this. I share your pain, literally.

Am 30 M from Liverpool uk. New to this too

I have been up all night in pain and always have trouble sleeping. Had my fibromyalgia symptoms for around 10 years but really kicked off bad after my first shoulder dislocation, since then had 32 left shoulder dislocations and 4 surgeries and the rest is history, hopefully not a future of pain! Hope your all ok :)
