CatchMyPain Community and Pain Diary App to manage chronic illness

New Pain Companion update (version 3.3)

May 12, 2016 8:49 AM

Dear Pain Companion and CatchMyPain Community,

For those who don't know me yet: I am a chronic pain patient myself and the CEO and co-founder of Sanovation, the startup company which develops the CatchMyPain and Pain Companion apps.

I'd like to inform you about a major Pain Companion app update which we have just released and which you can get from the Google Play Store. It contains new features, improvements and a couple of changes as well.

Before going into detail about the new update, I'd like to remind you that Pain Companion is only available on Android phones (e.g. Samsung, HTC) so far. BUT the iPhone version is coming soon. It's a matter of weeks now... You can use your CatchMyPain account to login into Pain Companion and all your diary entries and posts will be there too.

Ok, let’s dive into the details about the new Pain Companion update:

- We have introduced a chart which visualizes the course of your pain, mood, stress and fatigue.
- You can now create an individual pain drawing for each diary entry
- You can enter your diagnoses / medical conditions
- We have removed the time line concept and the according activities because we had a couple of technical difficulties with this feature and we would have to generate a lot more content to make this really work. I don’t know yet when we will be able to continue working on this part. Everybody who has purchased additional activities should have received a refund by now.
- We have reintroduced the home stream which contains a selection of discussion topics
- Last but not least, the Pain Companion app and all the available features are now free of charge. At some point in time we will probably introduce new premium features, but all the currently available features will remain free of charge for you forever. All those who have purchased a subscription earlier and paid for features which are now for free, can ask for a refund using the feedback form in the app (at the bottom of the navigation). Just send us a short message asking for a refund. But of course you can also choose to not get a refund and consider the subscription a donation to support the development of our apps ;-)

As I mentioned above, the Pain Companion app will be available on iPhones soon. Those who have an Android phone should go get the new update right now to enjoy the new features and changes ;-)

Please let us know what you think about the new version by answering to this post or by sending feedback using the "provide feedback" form inside the app. We are looking forward to reading your comments!

Kind regards,
Daniel
PS: In a few weeks, you will be able to find patients who have the same medical conditions like you and who have a pain pattern similar to yours. Therefore, make sure to enter your medical conditions, so we can start preparing the list of similar patients for you.

I Ike what I've seen so far πŸ‘

May 12, 2016 2:51 PM

Thanks a lot! :-D
Me and my team are very glad to hear that.

May 12, 2016 4:31 PM

So far I love it. I'm happy to be able to track my pain more clearly.

May 12, 2016 5:21 PM

Can anyone tell me the perks of the pain companion app vs the original catch my pain app. I deleted the companion app way back in favor of the layout of the catch my pain app.

May 12, 2016 5:27 PM

I had to uninstall the pain compainion app because of a phone problem and when I reinstalled it when I try to open the app it just sits on the "pain compainion" blue screen and then eventually just turns into a while screen. (in currently using the catch my pain app to use the forum at the moment now) I dont know if it might just be my phone, but it is Also happening on my tablet. Maybe its a bug, in not sure. In not to smart when it comes to things like this.

Actually. I just uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked this time. :)
But why does it keep saying "an error has occurd" any time I try to put a picture for my profile

Blazedkitty, if you go to the app store and find your installed apps, does it show an update for this app? Mine did, and afterwards I've not had any problems.

May 12, 2016 7:46 PM

Yeah its working. I updated it and all. Everything's working except adding my picture

May 12, 2016 8:50 PM

Forgot my password and can't sign in. It doesn't show a recover password option... Look forward to the Companion.

Daniel,

You're brilliant. Thank you for making this APP and for making it available. I use it on my computer and on my iPhone, I guess it's the web version or something. It's adequate for now, but omigosh, when the Apple version is out, I'm sure it will be stunning.

You and your team have helped me make sense of the vague phrase "I'm in pain" to the specifics that might help my doctor understand that I'm not just whining! It's a ton of different things, unique and annoying and frustrating and PAINFUL... but indescribable. A picture is worth a thousand words. :-)

Thank you!!!

So far I like it. Are we going to have the weather tracker as an option? I know many of us react to weather changes.

May 14, 2016 5:55 PM

I like it. I particularly like the feature on the chart that brings up details of your entry when you select a particular point on the chart.

Hello everybody,

Many thanks for all your feedback.

@BlazedKitty: Thank you very much, you have discovered a bug in the profile picture feature. My team is going to fix this in the next couple of days.

@autoimmunes: We don't have a password recovery feature in the PainCompanion app yet. But you can use the CatchMyPain password recovery feature in the meantime (its the same account. In order to do that, visit https://my.catchmypain.com on your computer or log out of CatchMyPain on your phone to see the password recovery link.

@GrandmaD: Thank you so much. I am glad to hear that the app is helpful :-)

@LMB: We will probably add the weather feature in the next couple of months, but we first want to make further improvements to the community part and release the iPhone version.

@chezza1: Thank you very much for your kind feedback. I am glad you like the detailed view in the chart.

Please let me know if you should encounter other problems or missing features. Your feedback is highly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Daniel

When did the Pain Companion app settings update to allow font size to be enlarged? I just noticed the cogwheel at the top today. I've been squinting to see the writings. Omg... Thank you, thank you, thank you! πŸ‘πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΌπŸ˜

The app has been crashing on me daily. I have uninstalled and reinstalled on my iPhone on iOS 10.3.2 but still crashed.

Happy for the most with the new app. Only problem is I'm limited in the length of my post. It won't scroll up at times and I'm unable to see what I've pisted.

Jul 14, 2017 7:27 AM

I'm confused on the part that says the app is only available for android. I use it daily on my iPhone. Do you mean the update is only available for android?

Valdeen this thread is over a year old so the app has been rolled out for iPhones
