New to the game....

Hello everyone. My name is Amy. I'm new to this. I'm not really sure where to start. I'm about to turn 28 in January. I haven't been formally diagnosed, but I have had a close relative with Fibromyalgia tell me that she is 100% sure I have it. I kicked around the idea, never really doing anything about it. Until a few months ago, I was mostly fine; when I went off my Depo birth control the symptoms came flooding in like a wave. Getting worse every month. Starting with gallbladder pain symptoms for a gallbladder that is functioning perfectly. I'm new in my city and have only seen my new doctor a couple of times (mostly for my gallbladder). She seems to be a very understanding person, and even pushed me to get the hida scan when the ultra sound showed no stones, knowing gallbladders can look perfect, but not be perfect. I just don't know how to broach the subject with her when I see her in 4 weeks. Hell, I don't even know how to broach the subject with my husband. I've started the pain diary so I can have something to show her. Please, any advice is welcome. Sorry for the post being so long.

Just keep seeing your doctors !! Any reason for pain is better than no reason in my opinion.. it is a long road to a diagnosis . I'm sorry that you are in pain !

Welcome to the group Amy. Am so sorry you are dealing with such pain. My doctors love that I can actually show them how my pain is each day. I think you will find this an invaluable tool.. Make sure when you are charting to make note of anything that might cause pain to increase.. Like the change in weather or over doing it the day before.. Or added stressors in your life. It helps you to get a better view of what triggers the pain to increase.

The community here is just as (if not more) important. We laugh together, cry together, hold each other up.. And rejoice at each other's triumphs. We share what helps, what doesn't help and tips on things such as making every day activities easier to accomplish.

So come on in. Jump in wherever you want. You are among friends who understand pain all too well.

Welcome to the community Amy. I have fibro. There's others who have fibro or they have other pain. We come from all over the world so we come on here different times of the day. One book to help you understand fibro is Fibromyalgia for Dummies. You can get it on Amazon. Good luck with your dx.

Welcome to the community Amy!!! Do yourself a favor and keep track of your symptoms and triggers, etc. mood, sleep (or lack of), forgetfulness, etc. keep a detailed journal for the doctor and make sure that you are fully checked out with blood tests, a neurologist, a rheumatologist, etc. you may not have fibro but something that mimics the symptoms. I was diagnosed years ago and continued to search and turned out I had several other issues. You want to make sure to rule out other stuff and know exactly what you're dealing with. (Don't get discouraged and know it takes time). I hope that you find the support and information that you are looking for in the community. You're among good people. So hang around, put your feet up and have a laugh or two with us. Sending well wishes and best of luck your way!!😊💕
